I do not anything bad to happen to him, but the guy was no leader at all. You cannot be a good little solider and support Garth, Cappy, and Doug for years and wonder why you never won anything. I want real leaders who tell it like it is and are willing to go to ownership when things are clearly not working.

I’d like for him to not win the cup after jumping ship. That would be my only negative wish. So 25 years after he retires he can have nothing to show for himself other than being outed for the fraud he really was. Certainly not a real captain.

He went with the hot team.....a team he thought would give him a better chance at winning a cup soon. He’s like the kid who says it’s his birthday and everyone should do what he says cause it’s his birthday.

I enjoyed the onsider part about isles not so much him, they went hard and he (frank)ed them
- Upstate_isles

They talked about exactly what I pissed and moaned about the whole year we waited for that abortion to leave us.

They (ownership & mgmt) were so busy laying their jackets over puddles and sniffing Pajamaboy's rose-scented asshole that they completely overlooked the "hey maybe if we just make the team better he'll wanna stay" aspect of basic fucking logic.

Trust me, it’s doesnt affect my day to day. I just will never accept the BS that’s thrown about trying to understand his side etc etc. Its about as simple as it gets. Trust me, not only do franchise players almost NEVER do that, but they also don’t feel the need to write a letter to fans. I believe that’s called a conscience which is something he’s gonna have to deal with years after his career is over.

Yea again i liked the parts about what garth tried and what ownership said, some wanted him moved and owners nixed it. That to me made it worth while, let the people you hired do the jobs they were hired to do

Apparently he had a massive say in what this team did too, too much honestly

The biggest failure was on ownership. L&M let things fall apart and gave JT the opening to want to leave. JT deserves a lot of blame as well. Ownership has to take most of the responsibility along with Garth.

And yet JT was fine with Garth, Cappy, and Doug for years. If JT tried to have ownership make real changes with the front office and coaching and they told him to take a hike, JT would be totally justified in leaving.

Yeah, that part made me lose a ton of respect (or, well, what was left of it) for ownership. Bunch of wannabe big-swinging-dick businessmen that bent over and spread 'em for a 27 year old guy instead of just doing their job of building a functional hockey team.

As much as i hate garth i put this on ledecky and malkin. On a different note im excited for tomorrow and to see how the team plays defensively and if the second line can score and play well. Also the ads on this mobile version are obnoxious and cover where youre trying to type or read

No injuries or anything just no Cup would be great. To me a captain is not someone that just stays out of trouble and says the right thing. A real captain is willing to have the tough conversions with both teammates and ownership and management as well. A choir boy is not enough in being a good captain.

Ownership always has to take the most blame as they are the ones that can make real changes. I'm still looking forward to tomorrow even with all the concerns with the roster. I do not like the mobile version at all.

In the end you can’t give a guy like that all that respect. I could understand if he had won cups and was in the “final period” of his career. But, he’s a player like everyone else. Just goes to show you what a mess this organization was. It starts from the top.

I disliked the deal Leo got, really did not see any point at all in signing sbisa. Honestly, I'm not upset Bellows is starting in the ahl. As long as he's playing top minutes there, I'm expecting to see him called up during the season. Toews bothers me simply because he outplayed everyone aside from pulock on defense in camp. Clearly showed he was ready and could make an immediate impact. The pk and goals against were the worst in over a decade...think about just how god awful bad that is and how many terrible teams we've seen in the league over that time.

I'm really wondering though if the locker room was as much of a country club atmosphere as rumoured, and if that's why grinders and ancient vets were signed, to come in and change that attitude and if they're keeping the younger players out of the room until they've completely changed the attitude.

Hard to say for sure. I am sure that Lou is not signing up in his 70's to lose. A lot of the contracts that are dead weight on this roster are from snow. Almost all of Lou's deals were one year deals that could be buried in the ahl if needed - it's not like they need the cap space this year.

Long term, they'll have to hope that they can move a few of these contracts and if they start to play the way that Trotz wants them to, I think we'll start to see some changes to the roster with guys like Toews and Ho-sang in the next couple of months.

I'm fully prepared for this change to take them a couple of months to adjust to though. I'm not expecting them to make the playoffs this year and I think they'd have to overachieve to even be close to a bubble team.

We'll see, but I can't imagine Trotz signed up to coach a team of fourth line players without knowing what the overall plan was.

I think JT's then fiancée and now wife had a huge input into His decision imho. I heard She didn't like Long island and JT was renting not living in a purchased place which shows commitment imho. Thought lou could turn His decision around but I guess he couldn't. This is on Ownership and Snowballs.

That said, Phuck him He left. Hope He has little or no success in Toronto but looking at them offensively with Matthews, Him and Marner as 3C, they are crazy talented and i think the only way they don't have success is if they are worse than the Islanders were last year in Goals Against. that I don't see but one can wish. The PP is going to be crazy good.

On paper d and goalie are better.

Offensively I don’t think they will be but that’s why they play the games.

With Nylander Toronto's forward group is way better. Without him they're about even.

Tampa has a much better D group, and goaltending is probably close to a wash.

Canes should be able to do some damage with that D. How are the goalies looking?

I'd rather not talk about it.

Nah, Mrazek looked okay. Darling actually looked real good, right up until he got hurt.

That D should make things easier on the goalies. Would have been great for the Isles to have Sorokin playing this year and seeing Pulock, Leddy, and Toews starting on D.
