I also agree that I am a perfect human.

But if any of you degenerates think I am exposing myself to the horrors of our comments you are literally outside of your minds.

Plus this is typically a troll-free zone. There's nothing any Hockeybuzz blogger could tell me that I haven't already read about somewhere better.

I don’t think it’s bad at all, I like it.

Meh. It's not horrible or silly, but I could do without 3rd jerseys altogether. Very few of them are good and nothing more than a marketing ploy.

im with you guys. Nor love or hate the 3rd jersey. wont buy it either.
I guess Kuhnhackl failed to impress.

Im mad about Toews too. HE is one guy at camp that deserved to make the team.
the choice of using Sbisa is clearly a more NHL experience move.

As for Seidenberg- My guess he is done. His kid played Mites with mine and no seidnbergs at their game this weekend.

Bailey had a Greek salad with grilled chicken but they brought out shrimp instead.

did seidenberg even get a look during preseason game. ? good dman in his day but seems like he on way out.

100% Jimmy, its all about the added revenue for the NHL and its franchises.

That said, I still think its a nice looking Jersey.

Pulock with another tonight. wow.
Btw, unlike last year. Isles defense limiting shots against but Greiss and Lehner arent making saves.

- Spartiarti

I think both goalies looked ok during preseason. Greiss had that one game where he had a 21 save shut out through 2 periods. In general I have been much more impressed with his play than Lehner, but if team plays decent defense I think they will be very solid goaltenders. Lehner is just so friggin big if he is in correct position it will be tough to score.

I hope at least one goalie really shows up. I think Trotz has done his thing already. Our shots against has dramatically decreased and doesnt seem our PP missed JT one bit.

I thought Lehner looked weaker each game he played, but I gotta believe a lot of that is because -- as he even said -- he has to more or less re-learn a lot of things under Korn and the other coaches. Some of the weaker goals he let in during preseason...you could imagine some of that was due to overthinking where he's supposed to be and how he's supposed to move as opposed to doing it all on instinct. I'm expecting him to follow the same path I expect the team to follow: A really rough beginning as old habits get in the way of new lessons, but then a re-emergence either late this year or early next year as it all finally starts to click.

We have every reason to believe both goalies will improve drastically with new goaltending coach. Greiss should benefit by not have 2 or 3 odd man rushes a shift too.

Staple:

3) If it’s Toews [sent down], that’s a misstep by Trotz. The 24-year-old rookie has looked more than ready for the NHL throughout camp. His skating is second only to Nick Leddy among the eight defensemen still around and he’s strong enough to hold his own with NHL forwards. Trotz acknowledged that Toews “has made it difficult for us” in terms of making a decision but also acknowledged that the Toews-Scott Mayfield pair in practice right now is the fourth pair.

It certainly makes no sense to keep Toews up just to scratch him, so if he’s not in the top six to start, going to Bridgeport is the right call. Except not having Toews in the top six doesn’t seem to be the right call.

...

5) Trotz flipped his second and third defense pairs in practice on Monday, going with Thomas Hickey-Leddy and Luca Sbisa-Johnny Boychuk behind Adam Pelech-Ryan Pulock, which looks to be a nominal top pair right now.

Sbisa-Leddy was not a great pair on Wednesday. As suggested here last week, if moving Leddy to the right side clears the way to have Toews be a regular, then it’s a shrewd move. Doing so to accommodate Sbisa, whose instincts and hockey IQ have been question marks in his previous four NHL stops, seems like a way to drag down the Isles’ most important defenseman in Leddy.

Sbisa-Boychuk would likely be a real struggle. Neither has the skating ability to escape danger and even as a sheltered third pair would find trouble regularly trying to exit the defensive zone. Trotz is definitely still tinkering, even with a pretty decent solution (Toews!) right there in front of him.

Came here to post some of this, Staple is pretty critical of Lou and Trotz for the bulk of that article.

Guess when his buddy Snow is out of office the criticism finally comes out.

Must have been difficult for him to scream criticism with Snow's cack in his mouth. He does seem a LOT more critical of Lou/Trotz.

I think it's more a case of freedom to write what he thinks now that he's with the athletic. Met Art last year at the game in Vancouver and was interesting to talk to.

In fairness, I do happen to agree with his points. Filppula has been nothing but terrible and, inexplicably, was given a full NMC clause. Yes, it's only a year deal but it forces them to keep him on the active roster or pay him to sit and watch. There's no reason Kovar shouldn't have been given a shot for 10 games or so, he has a track record of offensive talent in the KHL and should at least get a fair look.

The Toews thing is dumb. Sbisa-Boychuk pairing is going to get torched, even playing 3rd pair minutes.
