Don’t forget Pelech. Typical,” these Guys suck BS.” Day after Day after Day

I thought Pelech and Pulock played very well last night. Of course that’s my opinion and well it’s well documented....

Watched the game again yesterday while at gym.. (nothing else on while my fat Arse on a stairmaster). Pelech and Sbisa were not good. Pulock was amazing.. and Mayfield was ok.

I really don't understand why they didn't leave Bellows up to start the season. he is a full blown sniper. He would look fantastic on second line and give you that extra zip on the line.

I am ok with Eberle on second line if Bellows on the line with him. Move Bailey down to 3rd (or back to center and move Nelson to 3rd if he reverts back to Meh). I just don't think we need a trade as much as need to move to some of the young guys. I hope this group of coaches pull triggers quickly. I would be very happy in December if we had JHS and Bellows on the team.

Bellows is a LW and Bailey/Eberle are RW's. Bellows would have to replace either Beau or Lee to be a top-6 LW.

I don't disagree. As I, and several others, as well as Lou, have stated, they want to evaluate what they have. I just think it's an audition for the vets. If one or more aren't cutting it, then maybe a trade or waive may be in order. Lou said he wasn't ready for the show. They obviously saw things they want him to work on. I'm ok with him going to Bridge. He'll be up here soon enough.

Barry Trotz yesterday cautioned not to read too much into the practice D pairs. Still guessing it will be this on opening night in Raleigh next week:

Pelech-Pulock
Sbisa-Leddy
Hickey-Boychuk

Just a guess though.

Staple's article this morning sounded more like educated guesses than anything he was told, but he had Sbisa in the top six and Toews possibly going down to B-port

The Islanders have eight defensemen left in camp and Sbisa’s signing to a $1.5 million deal on Monday off a tryout seemed to cement his spot among the top seven — and more likely the top six, since Trotz isn’t going to pair a potential scratch with Leddy, who has played more minutes than any other Islander three seasons running.

...

Lou Lamoriello and Trotz could best be described as “risk-averse” when it comes to unknown young players so far this Isles camp. Toews, despite being on a one-way contract, is the only one among the eight defensemen who doesn’t need waivers to be sent down. That path of least resistance may be the Isles’ course of action to start this season. It’s hard to imagine Toews wouldn’t be back up in short order, given the difficult schedule to open the season coupled with a long road trip through Nashville and California.

I wouldn't say that I'd mind it, but the reality is that Trotz seems to envision him at LW for now. Maybe if/when Nelson shits the bed as the 2C things will change, but for now the roster seems mostly set.

Staple's article gets more depressing the further down you go

And Trotz liked what he saw from Fritz, much the same way that Doug Weight liked what Fritz brought last season. “I thought he showed very well. He’s not out of the mix,” Trotz said. “He made a good statement tonight. He’s going to push for a job if he continues to play the way he did.”

Trotz didn’t rule out the Islanders diving into the waiver wire over the next few days as teams start to cut NHL-ready players. With so many contracts, however, that seems unlikely barring a trade.

One-game possession numbers don’t reveal much and the Islanders were dominant five on five on Wednesday. But the Tom Kuhnhackl-Valtteri Filppula-Leo Komarov line was under 50 percent Corsi/Fenwick in a game the Isles controlled and Filppula managed to lose all eight draws he took on a night the Isles won 34 of 58.

Of those three players, Kuhnhackl has really shown the best in camp and the preseason. Filppula and Komarov are veterans and they certainly understand when to turn their games up, but with such fierce competition in the bottom six, it’s surprising they haven’t flashed more.

Andrew Ladd may be back at practice today. A Ladd-Fritz-??? line would seem to give the Isles more jump down the depth chart, but it seems as though Trotz will give the three free-agent forward acquisitions a little more time to get things going.

That's our Sparti. Always has his rose-colored, half-glass-full glasses on. On the other hand, at least he's trying to find positives where the rest of us miserable fucks are always looking to bash and/or be negative. Maybe we should try a sip of what he's smokin'.

thanks icehockeyman. and yes i try not to state the obvious like Barzal is awesome and I give Pulock at A+ after he has scored 2 blasts from point. i leave that to theguy.

I do think not every player on team has to be top 10 guy in NHL. Realistically thats impossible. But i do know hockey and know the game.
I dont think Nelson registered a point other night but i thought he one of best guys on the ice that night. He was a monster in faceoff circle and very strong on the puck.
We get that Nelson every night and we going to be one very happy group of fans.

And like last year everyone wlll have to eat them words about Bailey. B/c what everyone going to say, oh he playing with Barzal. Maybe everyone has to realize he belongs on top line.

I may think Sbisa is good depth signing but if he taken Toews spot that is infuriating. In no way has he earned that right as Toews has been on of best dman in preseason.

Sbisa can wait his turn when Boychuk needs a maintenance day or if a Dman isnt playing well and needs a good benching.

Get used to it. Lou and Trotz love their vets. They both have obviously-good track records (although I'd argue that Lou hasn't accomplished anything great in a long time) but they are not guys that are going to insert youth into the lineup.

It's all going to come down to results. If the vets are getting the results there will be little complaint. If the vets are failing then Lou and Barry better be prepared to make changes. I still think Toews should start the season with the Isles and in the top 4.

Seems like they're grasping to the (delusional) notion that they might still be a playoff "win now" team.

No doubt Barry is super confident in his coaching abilities. I still do not like the offseason moves Lou made. I'm willing to give this a little time though, but these vets better have a short leash. I rather have a younger team.

Even if that was the case his return wouldn’t be much. Either a draft pick (2nd round AT BEST) or a different troubled prospect.

Lol seriously?

Canes game vs Washington had no Carolina broadcast so people tweeted @ the owner and he paid for the broadcast rights in NC so they can stream the game on their website.
