I agree on Toews, would be unfortunate if he didn't get a crack at playing. RE: Bellows, I'd love to see him on a line with Barzal and Beau. I think he might be able to find the soft scoring spots while everyone watches Barzy circle the zone with the puck. Put Ebs with Lee and Bailey. That's my top 6.

Bellows is a pure LW (if I remember correctly) and Beavillier is a C/LW. Which of the two would you play on their off side?

Also I’ve only really followed the Islanders for a couple of years, and thus only remember seeing Bailey play RW. Was he playing C prior to that, and if so how bad was he at it?

Any time we’ve tried Bailey at center it hasn’t worked but I would be willing to give bellows a shot with Barzal. I was thinking the same thing. If he has a knack for getting in scoring position which he seems to from what I’ve seen Barzal will definitely get him the puck.

Has Bailey spent much (or any) time centring Lee?

They drafted Bailey as a playmaking center, then threw him on wing. He stunk up the joint. Then, for about 4-5 years they labeled him a bottom 6 defensive winger. Somehow he got the nod to play top line minutes with Tavares and was successful. He’s played all facets on the isles and honestly i don’t think he himself knows where he fits.

Bailey has been tried at center multiple times with different players pretty sure Lee has been one of them. Never worked out but if we have an opportunity to spread out scoring it may be worth a shot. Pretty sure Trotz is going to be mixing stuff up may not be exactly that scenario but we may not have set lines for a while. With that said I would think Beau, Eberle, and Barzal will start together and see where it goes from there. I’ll also say let’s see if bellows even makes the team with the glut of crap forwards we just signed or traded for.

That’s what I suspected. Not optimal.

No it’s not. Not sure who is going to center that line so far Nelson looks terrible and from what I’ve read and what little I’ve seen Kovar doesn’t look like a fit.

I don’t see how Bellows doesn’t at least get a look to start this season. Doubt he sticks, but he’s certainly impressed thus far.

Would you rather play Bailey or Nelson at 1/2 C? I know you’re gonna say neither, but seeing as how there is (frank) all else available you must pick one.

That crossed my mind about Beau. I guess I mostly want to see Bellows with Barzal because I think Bellows can find the sweet spots, and Barzal will find him. Maybe keep Ebs on the right side. Ebs can find him too. That might be the mix. THen Bailey, Lee and Nelson? Have Beau center third line. I don't care how they play out just give the kid a shot!!!

Why wait till October?

I kid, I kid. Lee alone will keep me watching. Barzal too, I guess.

He’ll get a few games, of that I’m reasonably certain.

Lee-Bailey-Eberle
Bellows-Barzal-Beauvillier
Don’t give a (frank)-Nelson-Give even less of a (frank)
Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck

I’d give that a try for a few games.

Reality is tough for some. Remember how many times we debated last season whether Doug Weight was a good coach? Good times.

3rd line would continue to be a place players go to die.

If you can guarantee certain death, then I’ll give you 3rd line Lucic and a 2019 1st for future considerations.

Pulock was the least of Weight’s coaching missteps. To be fair Pulock didn’t look so sharp multiple games but imo it wasn’t handled properly at all. He’d have a good game after a bad one then he would inexplicably sit again for the next six for some garbage pail player. Usual Islander coaching protocol they might as well have kept capuano.
Don’t question Dougie. Those were good times I think I got physically threatened then challenged to a hockey match. I’m guessing there was a bottle of whisky a little less full that night😂
