Hickey isnt that bad can play up and down the lineup on d 4 years is a bit much perhaps I know we want better d but hockey and dehaan were actually some of the better ones. It's like when okposo and neilson were the top 2 ufas and we were the team letting them walk
- Upstate_isles

Why don’t we give Trotz a chance at getting a structure in place that will help The Islanders on the defensive side of the puck.

We aren’t in a position to take our youth and future and trade it for a quick fix or after JT has bolted.

We only have Lou L and Trotz in charge. The team hasn’t reach out to Cpt and his Nok Hockey experience to turn the team around after losing its franchise player short team.

I don't like the four year contract. I'm hoping he won't be as bad now that he has a real coach that will keep him from being behind the opposition's net every chance he gets.

Just thought it was a bad look the first move after losing JT was signing Hickey for 4 years. I can understand Isles fans and most of the NHL scratching their heads at the moves yesterday.

Staple inferred that Trotz and lou may think the d is t that bad but it needed more structure

Hickey is the least of the head scratching. Again Pulock and Hickey together were one if not our best defensive pair last year.
Filppula is a good P.K. player and has a 52% FO % which would be #1 even with JT on the team. I know for most on here FOs aren’t important but they are. Especially when your up by 1 goal protecting a lead. That last FO in the zone can make a huge difference.

Could be Jimmy. I think fans will feel better if we bring in a goalie soon. It's tough right now having a lot of unanswered questions.

I hope it works out 7. Hopefully Trotz will have no issue sitting vets when needed. Filippula with a one year deal I have no issue with. Komarov I do not get at all. I do think the D will be better with Trotz. Would like a competent goalie brought in so we can stop hearing when are the Isles getting a goalie. I think fans were hyped for Lou as GM and were thrown off by some of these early moves.

Well I’m not going to dissect your response, but as far as hockey people they understand the Hickey signing. And again maybe you could have made the team better after it lost its franchise player but honestly I don’t think Lou L can. But he has how many more Stanley cups than you
Come on please let’s give it some time. Can you do that?

- nyisles7

Go back read the post I responded to you with and go back and read the first post of mine you commented on and you'll find your answer but you'll ignore what I wrote because that's what you do because it fits your narrative. Can you do that? Can you read? I literally started twice to give it time BUT these signings are like taking money and throwing it out the window.

It has zero to do with the almighty Lous hockey acumen or mine for that matter
Just like Doug Weight and his coaching expertise that you fought so gallantly protecting for months

God forbid anyone should question the almighty Lou. Here we go again with this

I don't disagree, but I also don't blame people for venting about these bad moves. Especially after being jackhammered in the nuts by JT.

You know - I'm starting to think there isn't. They must have sold the franchise's soul to the devil in 79.

Would be a big help. Proven goalie does not have to be a star and a good defensive system from Trotz and could be an interesting year at least.

I'm wondering the same. Vegas loves speed players. Give us one of your goalies for Ho Sang.

That is true

I'm sorry I should have stated how happy I was to give it time. I'm (frank)ing delighted

He'll just ignore the parts he doesn't like and beat his meaningless point into the ground because this is what he does. I did this with him with the Hall of Fame coach Doug Weight. I had the audacity to question his coaching and how effective it was. Also, btw Hickey (frank)ing sucks

I'll also add that a month ago just about everyone on here was discussing the JT contingency plan and it certainly wasn't as negative as this. Sorry I'm not ready to just throw in the towel. 80 points and a defensive liability is not impossible to replace. Make it happen Magic Lou

Nobody will play here because we're building a new arena and they have to play in two for the interim. There's an excuse for everything. I can't live through another rebuild. Literally I'm old.

Edit; please none of you idiots take any of these posts seriously they were all tongue in cheek. Yes I'm not happy with the signings and yes I truly believe hickey sucks and is prolonging an already terrible blue lines life THOUGH I believe or at least want to believe there's a bigger picture here than I'm seeing. We shall see where it goes.

Tavares did zero for the @NYIslanders in the homestretch when needed most. His cheery homilies in the conference call did not impress me. Not one bit.
