Night off for Sergei Bobrovsky. #CBJ to start Korpisalo, Kinkaid to back up.

Nothing like giving your #1 goalie the night off when you spent a ton of assets on rentals and proceeded to fall outside of the playoff race

Torts sucks.

He's great at pushing mediocre teams to overachieve, but then when he's been somewhere for a while and the team is actually good, he can't seem to get anything extra out of them.

Isles are probably not close in talent to the Jackets. Torts does have a short shelve life. Jackets will be toast if they miss the playoffs.

I agree, I think teams just tune him out after a while.

You have to think CBJ will make some big changes not only to their team but also maybe Management and coaching as well if they fail to make the PO and make some noise.

Also if they don't make the PO's you have to think Duchene won't sign there imho.

Unless they explode somehow they're totally missing the playoffs.

I don't think Duchene was ever going to sign there. That team is so (frank)ed. They'll get some pieces from other teams by trading negotiating rights to Panarin, Duchene, and Bob for picks before the draft, but they're going to be hurting for a while after this.

Yeah this is their last dance together. Future will be bleak for a few years for sure.

Bob, Panarin and Duchene won't bring back much as all 3 are FA's on July 1st so there might be a team that gives up something to have exclusive rights to negotiate but I don't think the pieces are significant.

I'm hoping Duchene or Panarin are wearing an Isles jersey come next season.

I cringed so hard every time I saw someone praise Jarmo for "going for it" when he's had the exact same core of young talent for a few seasons now. He could have done this little by little instead of just going all-in when their goaltender is trash in the playoffs.

Meh, his best players wanted out of dodge and basically said they are going to test FA so I can't blame him for trying to make a hard run for it with the 2 in place.

I give him credit for reaching down and grabbing his balls and going for it rather then playing it safe.
Really either way they were going to be in a rebuild/retooling situation so give it a shot.

Much better than GM's that rebuild for 10 years because they don't have the balls/ability to go all in. cough, cough, Snow Balls.

I, admittedly, lean to the risk-averse side of things but I just think that it was uncalculated, blind risk that had/has an extremely large chance of blowing up in his face.

It's gonna cost him his job, eventually.

I would have traded Panarin and Bob for the best price you can get and go with a "us against the world" thing for the players.

Without a doubt he has put his ass on the line for the good or the bad. I give him credit for the team he built/traded for there and wouldn't be surprised if management gives him the opportunity to rebuild.

I think he did look at it and made the decision he thought was right, and probably went to ownership with both options and was given their blessing. Again with either scenario they were going to have to retool.

The mistake he did make was not checking in with us on here first before doing anything

I don't know about it costing him his job, only because I have to assume that ownership gave him the go-ahead for that. But it's not going to make him look good, that's for sure.

They're going to look a hell of a lot worse than the Isles did last July after they lose Bob, Panarin, Duchene, a 1st round pick, Abramov and the other kid for literally nothing.

I think Dzingel seems like he's gonna re-sign though. But it'll be even funnier if they lose him and whatever they gave up for him, too.

Yeah, but in the other scenario they would have been retooling with probably three first round picks and a new influx of higher-end prospects. Instead they're going to have to retool with no first round picks and even less prospects

100%, You assume they said lets go after this and try to win now and or at least make some $$$ in the PO's this year before the rebuild begins. There in it to win and of course make some $$$.

The net presence I think is what Dal Colle's offensive game is evolving into. I think we all hoped for a pure sniper that could just rip shots and one-timers from the circles and beat goalies cold, but I think he's more of a player who will be pretty smart about when to make a move to the net, when to back away a little, and when to hunt for rebounds and tips. And, after he was sent back down the first time, the biggest change in his game was the edge he played with, which is probably something Trotz insists on.
- UIF

I haven’t seen enough of him to really gauge what he’ll turn into. He seems like a decent third liner right now but who knows maybe he’ll evolve into something else? Took him a few years to do anything in the AHL maybe he can contribute more than we’re seeing now at this level. The obvious thing that he has to improve is his skating. He works on that and he may be something more than what we’re looking at now.

He has other players to trade for first rounders and restock his assets. Atkinson, Foligno, Jones etc. to name a few. Depends on how much of a rebuild they go for. Gonna be interesting to see what they do from here.
