Yup I feel similarly but then I realize we have lou making decisions and I have faith he will do the right thing even if that means waiting and not overpaying

It’s a conundrum. Nothing coming up the ranks and nothing available in the near future besides him but the obvious, potential negativity associated with trading/signing him. Also, I don’t think there’s too much of a wrong move in this particular situation...

Real tough spot for the Isles to improve the 2C spot. Usually cannot trade for these players. and when you do they are more 3C than 2C. Duchene is in a great spot this offseason.

Meh we could resign Nelson not Eberle which I’m getting the impression is the plan anyway. I see Nelson and lee getting signed it’s been reported that their extensions are being discussed but Eberle’s is not. He gone.

There will be a lot of teams in on him. Not sure if there are any other legit centers heading to FA?

Duchene seems to be the clear cut center in FA.

Now, to me, you’ve got three very different players here: Panarin is the most dynamic offensive player of the group, as impactful a difference-maker offensively as we’ve seen on the rental market in a long time; Stone is the most well-rounded winger, an absolute stud who does it all; Duchene is a rare commodity, a top offensive centre that is actually available if indeed Ottawa decides to move him. Furthermore, he’s played really well this season on a losing team.

Don’t get me wrong I like Duchene but I’m a little concerned with what he would cost in terms of trading and also what he would cost to lock up. I think he’s good, is fast, good on draws, but I don’t think he’s great and will most likely be looking for 9+ Maybe even 10 a year to sign. That to me is elite money. Not sure he’s worth it? With that said we need center depth and he certainly provides that and with no centers really coming up for us it may be the best option we have. Kind of conflicted on Duchene.

Seriously 12 plus seems to be elite money today

Yeah it’s getting up there but you look at a player like Marner who I know is not a center who will most likely get ten or somewhere around there. Do you think an older Duchene is worth ten for 7 or even 8 yrs in the hypothetical sign/trade that never happens? I’m not so sure but if we had an opportunity we may have to snag him because of what I mentioned in my proviius post.

I like MD. He has had 50 plus goals a year throughout his career on some shat teams.

As we have said in the past Barzal, Duchene, and Casey down the middle is a very good core group down the middle for the future of the Isles.

?
I assume you mean points with his best year being 70 points 6 years ago. Don’t get me wrong I don’t dislike Duchene just wondering if it’s worth it even with our lack of center depth? I’m on the fence with it after thinking about it. I was thinking where do I sign a couple of weeks ago. Not a clean cut yes for me now like it was. Not a no either so it’s a maybe.😂

I like Eberle better than Nelson and Lee. I want him and Lehner signed before the other 2 guys.

Lee is having a bad stretch but he’ll get it together and from everything I can see seems to have taken over the leadership role well. He’ll be signed. Nelson being a center has much more value to this team then Eberle and he has been playing pretty well. I’m not saying he’s awesome by any means but he’ll most likely be signed also. Eberle doesn’t seem to be part of this teams plans.

I think a lot will depend on these playoffs. If the Isles are out early and continue to struggle on offense, most will just want Duchene paid. My first choice would be Panarin if I need to spend big money on an FA.

Lee has been absolutely putrid lately. He better get his act together soon or he's gonna get lowballed on his new contract

I'm a big fan of 2-way forwards, so my first choice would be Stone. He'd also probably be a little cheaper than Panarin or Duchene.

The Islanders trade for Artemi Panarin. Lou Lamoriello's scouts have been following the Blue Jackets like groupies, so something's cooking. This move makes great sense for the Islanders, who could use Panarin in several line configurations (but, mostly, we'd love to see what he and Mat Barzal could accomplish). It might also make sense for Panarin if living in New York City is ultimately what he's after, as has been rumored, since the Islanders could then offer him an eight-year deal.

We’ve seen it before from players in contract negotiations. You have to think he’ll snap out of it. We need all of these guys to snap out of it this would be the right time have to start scoring again.

Barzal and Panarin would be dynamic. Have to think it would mean giving up Dobson or Wilde for a signed Panarin?
