The shootout is an obvious issue, but the isles never shoulda let it get to a shootout. To me, going 0-3 (i believe) on the PP in the first is happening too often. The devils PP looked more fluid than the isles. There’s too much standing around and passing. It’s an easy kill

Scotty Gomez is the weak link on this team

PP is the biggest issue and can cause them to lose in the playoffs. I have no issue with replacing Gomez, but I thought the Isles PP was a problem before Gomez? The offense as a whole is a concern. Barzal and MDC looked good. Bailey is a problem and Lee has gone cold.

It hasn’t been great for a while now but not as bad to the extent it is now. They have to change something up.

Yes, I'm more concerned about the PP. There are no shootouts in the playoffs.

I still think ther mix between the top 6 is a problem. I have no issue removing Gomez. I think something has to be done player wise as well.

At least after the first PP they started to shoot the puck. I would bet that Trotz finally had enough and started to yell at them to get the puck to the net. The next 2 PP they were constantly throwing it at the net. If they keep doing that they will start to score on tips and rebounds. The 8 passes looking for the perfect shot every time has to stop.

Yeah its more interesting to read your breakdown of the games the next day

My point jacka$$ was that most of us don't pay for the Athletic subscription and when you post 2 or 3 of their links every day it's comical. As far as my "breakdowns of the games" ...I have been on here for loooooooooooong time and mainly it's an opportunity to vent and the debacle that occurred the previous night.

I look forward to your retarded Links...

All this passing is the point many have made about too many passers and not enough shooters.

Not sure what the issue is but they better fix it. Kind of alarming that it may be even worse than it was in the beginning of the season. Need to get it together before the playoffs start.

Unless Lou can pull off a deal for a top 6 forward, the PP and offense could be a struggle the rest of the way. I do think we will have to wait until the offseason for any big moves.

Yeah I’m starting to keep my expectations low as far as TDL moves go. Most of me thinks we will stand pat which I’m not overly disappointed with the idea. Wouldn’t be disappointed if Lou made a move either but you would have to think he’s looking for a signed player with term at this stage and those deals don’t come around too often.

I agree. I'm fine with not giving up a big prospect for a player that can walk. I need a top 6 forward with term if I'm giving up a Dobson or Wilde.

Question for anyone who uses NHL.TV. I'm not going to be able to watch Saturday's game until Sunday. Any idea how I can do that without those dumb green markers on the bottom spoiling the game for me? When you hit play to start a game that's already finished (or if live TV is ahead of you...so you're watching the first period but the game's in the third), they mark all the penalties and goals on the bottom and it ruins the whole thing.

I never like having a forward at the point on the PP. You have guy on this team who have a great shot who are D-men and others that are really good puck handlers. You can easily use Boychuck, Leddy, Toews, and Pulock on the points. Nuts to have Barzal or whoever there.. if for no other reason then they are not used to the position and often fail to keep the puck in the zone on a clear attempt.

Lee is costing himself a fortune at this point. On a Contract year I can't believe I am yelling at the TV for him to Skate. Guy is flat footed all the time. He is already not a fast skater.. he better start moving and scoring.

He’s not having a good run lately. Hoping some of these guys get hot in the home stretch.

No he has not.

When I watch Lee lately, I get the impression he's trying to play a "safe" game. I understand that Trotz's systems demand a defensively responsible effort, but I think Lee is taking it a wee bit too far.

Oh well. He's just making himself more affordable in the long run, so it's not all bad.

Put a piece of tape over it, years ago when I had to work and watch the replay I would put pillows across the score tracker on the bottom of the screen for that reason

I do think the forwards are struggling to find the balance of playing good defense and offense. I do think the forwards have to take the shot a lot more than always looking to pass.

Damn, that's an inconvenient solution...I was hoping there was just a setting I was missing or something

I connect my laptop to a TV to watch the games, so I'll have to cover the bottoms of both screens and would rather not slap tape over an LED TV screen! Seems like a dumb default option with no alternative...I imagine the universe of people watching a game late who want to see the whole thing is way bigger than people who only want to fast forward to just the goals...like, just watch the highlights if that's all you want

I have made a conscious effort to never learn what "those dumb green markers" mean. Sounds like that idea is too late for you, however. In all seriousness, don't those markers sometimes merely indicate a shot on goal? So I think you can safely ignore them, because the marker may be insignificant.

Um...if I answer your question, will I be ruining your conscious efforts to be blissfully ignorant of the shatshow happening at the bottom of your screen?
