Hopefully but I meant this year, hes paid an absolute ton to sit in the box especially when Del colle can be sent down without waivers
- Upstate_isles

So what. They're paying Snow a ton to pick up gum & cigarette butts. (yes, I know, that doesn't count toward the cap). Like Cpt. said, Trotz isn't going to play someone just because they're paid more. I don't think he gives a rats red ass about salaries when putting lines together.

Lou has a history of not giving a poop what you are paid, and icing the best team as he sees it.

So there is that.

- Wildschwein

Exactly. Nor should he. And they're doing pretty damn good so far.

Playing Ladd no matter what is a Garth, Cappy, and Doug thing. Lou and Barry need to be different. Ownership should have gotten rid of Garth earlier so they need to deal with Ladd's contract. MDC can only produce so much with Leo and Fili. That is never going to be a high scoring line.

That’s what I believe and I hope that belief is true...

We are all assuming that it would be MDC or Toews being sent down . We forget that moose knuckle , Ross or Sbisa can go to BPT. If they get claimed , who cares. Then Hickey and Ladd can watch together from the press box .

I can’t see toews getting sent down to make room for Hickey. Not happening.

We all said the same thing about Snow. As for Leo & Fili, they're more defensive-type players. They do the job they were brought in to do. Not everyone on the team is going to pump in 40 goals. They'll chip in a few here and there, but again, that's not their role.

Wanna bet? I think Toews has earned his spot and I'd hate to see him go back down, but at the end of the day I think he's the odd man out. I don't believe he needs to clear waivers and they may be what they look at. I hope not, but.....

Most of us said that about Garth.

I agree about Leo and Fili but Barry or any fans cannot expect MDC to put up big numbers with them. If MDC needs to put up better numbers he needs to be moved to a scoring line. I do not want to hear MDC only has 2 goals so Ladd needs to play.

No and that's what I'm saying. MDC is on a checking line, not a scoring line. Maybe Barry is trying to teach him how to play defensive hockey to round out his game. If they know he can score but that's all he can do then he doesn't fit Barry's game plan. I have no idea where the hell Ladd fits into the game planning, but Barry will figute something out.

Yes, I do... He is not going to get sent down. Trotz has already stated he didn't want to send him down the first time, but Lou convinced him it was better after the injury last year to have him start at B-port to get his confidence back and then call him up after a month or two... Zero shot with the way he is playing that he is the guy who gets sent anywhere. Sbisa will be waived and then Pelech or Mayfield will sit.

None of us have a single clue about any of the inner workings but it doesn't stop us from speculating or opining. We take whatever Barry says in interviews and post-games and interpret it. Full disclosure though, I typically only "hear" what he's saying because you guys usually post it. It's a rare day when I get an Islanders feed.

They're not sending Toews anywhere. As it was pointed out, they can send any of the scrub veterans to Bridgeport and it won't be a big deal to lose them via waivers. Dal Colle has proven he can handle the minutes, they can send down Sbisa/Ross the Net-Loss and roll with DuneTackle and Dal Colle. Move Pelech to 7D.

Ladd can shoot but on that 3rd line he just needs to help keep the puck out of the net and he can replace clutterbuck on the 2nd pp unit. Idk what he will do with Trotz as a coach there is a possibility that he goes on barzal wing too (he will be an anchor but beau hasn't been great lately either)

I think it's good for MDC to be with Leo and Fili to round out his game. Some fans get hung up on numbers though. Ladd should be a fill in. Let Ladd get a game in place of Bailey with the way Bailey has turned the puck over.

It's all possible, but I could see MDC being sent back to BPT and Ladd reclaiming that spot. Maybe not, but I do think that it's the most likely scenario and Dal Colle doesn't require waivers.

Toews has proven too much to send him back, waiver-exemption or not. Pelech/Hickey can rotate in/out of the last spot and it'd be real easy for them to just waive Sbisa. They can either let him play in the AHL or, if he doesn't want that, they can put him on unconditional waivers and terminate his deal.

MDC numbers are like ho sangs except he buys into the system and plays d. Of late hes been good on the forecheck and created some turnovers. Now if he is sent down we can all hear about how they win with him in the line up but it's really the system they play

I agree on Toews hes here to stay he looks great out there and I think del colle goes down too as he can get a lot of minutes and work on his game. Rather see him playing 18 -20 a night than watching from the press box. One thing we haven't taken into account is the possibility of a trade that could move some pieces around too

Only difference is JHS got top 6 minutes and MDC has not. The team can obviously still win without MDC but it should not always be young players taking the fall.

Sorry, flagged this. It was very offensive to me.

A trade could certainly happen that solves the logjam(s), but given how tight-lipped Lou is I'm not banking on anything.

Dal Colle has really played pretty well and I'd hate to see him be sent down but you're right that he needs to be either in the lineup most nights or he needs to be in BPT playing every night. He can't be a regular scratch.

Yeah I don't think lou will give him the donovan/berube treatment
