Easy there, carrying the load is a lot different then sharing.

JT was for sure the piece teams needed to stop pre game.

- nyisles7

Right for the first half of the year, when he went into his yearly funk barzal still scored and teams started to cover him more. Again I said he will see the opponents top players nightly but his elite skating may be what allows him to continue to be dominant. I love JT great player but guys catch him from behind and allow back pressure to take away his time and space. Still amazing he produces like he does but he only gonna get slower and for a guy that's not much above average for an NHL player that's going to slow him down soon. Today's game is speed and barzal has it in spades, is he ready to be a one c qe may find out very soon

Easy Bud, let’s not discount JTs worth or NHL talent Upstate. Barzy is crazy talented but he’s had 1 season under his belt and that said I think he will have success moving forward if he has a center with the talent and tenure that JT has would benifit him as it has this year.

I dunno. Seems to me you can't move Toews, unless you have a solid plan to shore up the D without him.

This will be very unpopular, but I think if JT leaves, at least a partial rebuild is necessary. Too many holes, in goal, on D, and in the bottom 6. It may take a while for Lou to jettison some of Garth's contracts that I have to think were given out, because they were friends of Tavares.

Just pointing out what it would take for O'Reilly. I agree that taking a step back and retooling to build around Barzal would be the best course of action. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

And I agree but if he is to become the sole focus of the opponent should jt leave he has that killer speed is all. He no doubt enjoyed his time in JT shadow

Oh I'm probably the most positive one I'm still confident he comes back, but I can't ignore the possibility that he doesn't either.

He has great talent but can’t imho carry it alone and ROR or Kreijci would be my target if JT didn’t stay to give the 2nd year C a bit of help. Can’t do it alone. JT tried for years.

Still like the idea of making Bailey 2C. Guy loves to pass and the Isles sign JVR for wing. Instead of giving up assets for ROR you have assets to give up for D and goalie.

Beau or Nelson could be with Trotz as coach but I don’t think they would be strong enough for 2c hence needing ROR or Kriecji being targets if JT leaves.

If Boston’s looking to move Kjreici (sp) I would try to get him as well or ROR
- nyisles7

Nuge would work as well.

Or Little if the Jets decide to keep Stastny.

Maybe, but that's the way to go if JT leaves. It won't be like the last rebuild starting from absolutely nothing. I think it could turn around quickly...a couple of years for the young players already on the team and in the system to develop, and, like you said, to get out from under some of the bloated contracts. Then they'd have a solid core in place and a lot of cap space to fill in the holes.

But...I think it was you who told me the other day not to start thinking like that yet

Hopefully JT signs, Lou sheds some of the bad contracts on the fly, and the table's set for a push this year

Tavares needs to tell isles today so they can move on from him and get to work on their future. Wonder how many teammates have called him to stay, they all swear he loves it on L.I

I'm sure there'd be interest on the Islanders side, who knows about from Stastny. I'd love ROR but the ask is allegedly a 1st+2nd+top prospect. I'd do it if they consider Bellows a top prospect, but anything like Wahlstrom or Dobson and I'd pass. I'd probably consider moving Toews, too.
- eichiefs9

They're asking what for ROR? Give me a (frank)ing break guy is completely overpaid and just said he has lost the will to play hockey . (frank) that I would rather look elsewhere.

I'm not a fan of his at all and hes 3 steps below Tavares. We will know what hes doing today as it's been reported it will take time to get contract ironed out before the deadline

Dont believe this hockeychat guy but could be what was behind tsn saying it was between leafs anf sharks

BOS, DAL and TBL are out of the Tavares sweepstakes. Rumblings are that Ledecky sent out a text stating that Tavares will NOT return to the Isles. Sharks and Leafs are top destinations unless something dramatic changes between the Isles and Tavares.
