Who's worrying? Those are facts and those are contracts that will need to be dealt with. I didn't say the sky was falling, just that those are things that need to be taken into consideration.

By your calculations, that's $23M coming off the books + current cap space by summer of 2020 plus another $2.5M in (very estimated) cap ceiling space. So $25.5M available. Now give Panarin $11M and Barzal $12M. Then you still have to sign Pulock and, potentially, Sorokin.

They absolutely cannot buyout Ladd. Aside from the fact that they'd be paying him until 2027, they would save barely over $500k on the cap for the first 4 years of the buyout, until 2023. https://www.capfriendly.c...or/andrew-ladd/2019-06-15

"Who says I am worrying.... I didn't say the sky was falling..." Next 2 paragraphs all the reasons u are worrying and think the sky is falling.

As I said.. we will be fine! ... and IF we sign Panarin and Barzal that would be one hell of a problem to have. The fact that we have some young talent on the team, in b-port and in Juniors should offset some of those "worrisome" contract issues. I am sure you can move a Bailey, Leddy, or even a Ladd/Boychuk if you eat some of the $ to save cap space. The bottom line is it has NEVER been an issue for the Isles and I don't foresee it ever being an issue. When it becomes one u can tell me "I told you so" but until then

Dobson and Wilde are two entirely different (and complimentary) players. I'm willing to move Dobson but I'm not so sure I'd start throwing his name around a lot. He's a damn fine prospect.

I honestly think, at this point, that Wilde is our top prospect. Wahlstrom's season has been, mostly, a let-down. Dobson just got off an atrocious team in the Q and his production is starting to reflect that. Wilde has been the most consistently high-end kid we have in the pipeline so far, save for Sorokin who's a lot older.

kind of seems like u disagree with me and then you don't. I will say one thing about Wahlsrom.. He is not playing against other 18 year old kids. College Hockey is older on average and bigger, and this was probably his first taste of not playing with kids his age. I was also concerned with his play early on but it seems he has gained some confidence at Juniors and is starting to play at a higher level lately. 5 points in last 6 games including a 2 point game on Saturday. Hoping he finishes strong and I get to see him at Frozen Four in Buffalo in April.

As far as Dobson.. I agree he is a very high end prospect, but I still think with pulock, Toews, Aho, and Wild... He is expendable for the right trade. I would be happy to keep the kid of course but if it means getting one of those Top tier guys in Stape Article... buh bye.

Most kids play USHL and then go to college it's very rare an 18 year old goes right to school and 4 years is a huge age difference.. it's like vukota was saying about age and strength but for the top players they can overcome that and he just may be doing so or starting

Sabres vs Blue Jackets tonight who do you root for? Me personally I'd rather Blue Jackets win and further separate the playoff teams from the non playoff teams and then battle for division spots the last month or so. You guys?

It does, but the Sabres are my 2nd favorite team, so I generally root for them when they're not playing the Islanders. Plus, I get to root for Okposo again....

Buffalo would be my team if the Isles left the state. KO is a good guy.

NBCSN is broadcasting Flyers-Rangers, I think, so I won't get to watch it anyway. In that game (Flyers-Rags) I can only hope for a bench clearing brawl that injures everyone.

This is when they are going to feel the effects of the Clutterbuck, Ladd & Boychuck deals. Gotta hope Lou can move a bad contract or two or hope that Ladd spends the next 4 years on LTIR
- Vukota

I'd honestly trade multiple first round picks to move Ladd to Seattle during the expansion draft if he was willing to waive his NTC.

I'm not a guy who wants to hoard prospects because I think everyone is going to turn out to be a superstar...but im very hesitant to move a guy like Dobson. Any defensive prospect that has the capability of developing into a top pair D-Man...im making damn sure I keep him at all costs unless the deal on the table to move him is an absolute no brainer.

I'm also really curious what they are going to do with deals for Barzal and Lee. It would probably make the most sense if they bit the bullet now and signed Barzal to a long term deal as he's coming off the ELC. It'll suck doing it now, but 4-5 years down the line it could end up being one of the best contracts in the league. Otherwise, if he signs a bridge deal, you're going to end up paying him what...? 13 million a year or some ungodly number. Unless Barzal takes a JT bridge deal...and does something like 6x6.5m...I say lock him up to 8 years X 9mil per if that is all possible.

If they dont re-sign Lee it is going to look extremely bad. I'm hoping he is willing to take a fair deal with the team. Maybe 6 @ i dunno? 6.5 mill. In all honesty, he's probably going to want way more. Let's pray he takes a team friendly deal in hopes he wants to win a Cup.

2020-21 season he has a modified no trade clause and can list 15 teams he doesn’t want to get traded to. Being a west coast Canadian Boy I dont think he would have a problem moving closer to home. I hope so because honestly no other way I see getting rid of him but then we do have Lou and not Snow Balls running things.

Lee was quoted as saying he wants to stay here and he seems to be a stand up guy and a real leader I believe him more than jt, Lee In interviews alone seems like the kind of guy that's dedicated that a real team player

Lee isn't going anywhere. You think Trotz would name him captain if there was a doubt ? Lee is the leader of this team.

Can see Lou moving Ladd to someone like Ottawa for the Gaborik contract. Makes $4 and change for 2 more years but I don't think will play again. Just a contract to place on LTIR or buy out.
Ladd can serve a purpose in Ottawa, being a leader for the young core that's going to come through there for next 4 years of his contract

Really?? As opposed to just sitting him and keeping those multiple first rounders? He’s not Yashin and under this new team system he won’t be as “Badd” as he was in years past. He’s not worth his contract but he’s not so bad that he’s worth mortgaging multiple first rounders.
