Stupid people at work keep saying based on no logic that Matthews will not want to stay in TO when he is due for his new contract. It's all based on them being pro McDavid & cause Auston is American. Dam spoiled crazy union guys!

By that time Mathews will have a crap load of endorsement deals and you can bet there will be clauses in there that if he is playing for the leafs they are worth more then if he plays in say Arizona. He stands to make more money playing in Toronto.

BEST VIDEO EVER!!!!!! I get chills with excitement watching that. Unlike in the past when we would only have 1 future star to carry the torch with nothing else, but now we have 3 future stars with a terrific group of young great players behind them for support & a bonafide # 1 goalie. Bonus is the leadership from Marleau, Moore $ Hainsey. HOLY McILHENNY this team is rock solid & stacked. No doubt we are going to make the playoffs as the team is now. If Lou can add that young solid missing piece on d-fence through a trade than we are a have a serious chance to definetly go past the first round.

He will get a big payday. The Sabres show very little in the way of good judgement from a cap perspective.
One of many things differentiate the Leafs and the Sabres at this point is the Sabres don't really have any team friendly good contracts, while the Leafs are loaded with them.
Examples :
O'Rielly cap hit $7.5 (made $11 million salary last year and will make $9 million this year for 20 goals and 55 pts) Good on faceoffs - big (frank)en deal a sh!t contract that will (frank) the Sabres for 6 more years.
Okposo - $6 million cap hit, brutal contract for six more years 45 points, 19 goals ($7 million salary)
Jason Pominville $5.6 million cap hit, ($5 million salary) two more years, he's 34, and scored 47 points with 13 goals last year.
Matt Moulson - $5 million cap hit, ($5 million salary) 2 more years, he's 33 and scored 14 goals and 32 points last year
In addition, head case Evander Kane is a UFA after this year - He will be on the move and the picks the the Sabres will get, will depend on his stats this year. Needless to say he is worth considerably less than JVR right now.

FYI you are wrong about the Kane versus JvR comparion btw.... we learned a few weeks back that JvR is "washed up" from the Jets fans.... kind of a Spatso thing
