Nice job Dan! I thought Chimera had a nice season. I thought he would be a little tougher though.

Chimera played well but I would trade him in a NY minute for Matt Martin.

chimera is such a better hockey player than matt martin.. you can't even compare the two. I get that you want some mean in the bottom six.. I wouldn't mind some more sandpaper, however they need to be able to skate.. find me someone who can and im all for it

isles need to be in the top ten in puck possession, offensive zone starts and shot attempts and not hits and blocks

I think Chimera was pretty much as advertised. I would have liked to see him with Casey and Cal as a checking line.

I get that.... I really liked him with the kids though. their term "checking line" is the about as relevant as "stay at home d man" they really don't exist anymore

Trade Jason Chimera for Matt Martin???? Sure, pay more money to a guy who scores 5 goals a season and lose the guy who scores 20 goals a season....

Best 4th line in hockey. Their hits were so fast in the playoffs that you couldn't even see them....

Dan is right, these days there are 3 lines that can all score and a 4th line that can be responsible defensively and still contribute on the scoreboard from time to time. Sorry ses but the pens don't have anyone that fights, but you know what they will all hit and take hits to make plays and that's what you need to be successful. The ducks have grit and can be physical but it's not a necessity anymore. I don't think the isles missed Martin at all, I think they lost 3 guys and replaced 2 of them and had a rookie and it took longer than expected to find their groove. Now admittedly cappy really delayed the process by switching the lines period to period but this team isn't that far out of a playoff spot. Quine should be gone as well as Prince and replaced by barzal and ho sang which rookies or not is a huge upgrade in talent. Let pulock play and add in a player via trade or free agent and this team is much improved. Also lets hope richardson can help out with the play in the d zone and we can get another guy to help out with the power play. It sounds like weight is gonna make it much tougher on these guys right from the start of camp and less of a country club. This could be just what this team needs, hard work, accountability, and coaches that the players like but also respect and know are going to hold them accountable

I think you are right in terms of fighting. The problem is the Isles have too many guys not willing to take a hit or give a hit like Bailey and Nelson. I would still not mind someone that can handle himself when things get rough and still play a smart defensive game. I would not be looking for a lot of goals from this player. I think adding a 2C is key. Hopefully Ho Sang and Beau continue to develop and Barzal can add some offense. I like adding Richardson and hopefully he can help with a good defensive system. I'm ok with keeping Quine as an extra forward. I'd love to be able to move Bailey or Kulemin but that's not happening. This team can turn things around with the right moves. I just do not have a lot of faith in Garth making the right moves.

i think Chimer brought to the team exactly what was expected of him and a B grade is on point. I would;d have liked to see a little more toughness or grit from him but that's what we have Ladd for

I thought that MM was missed on the islanders, whether he can skate or not Blah blah blah , the 4th line without him was non existent, and it was a big part of the teams identity. The team certainly lacked toughness and was an easy team to play against this past season. Wonder if the 4th line would have helped them get 3 or 4 more points this year?

I also will go with Babcock and Lamoniello's thinking and not Garth Snows or a bunch of Hacks on HB. Obviously the best coach in the game and 1 of if not the best GM/Builders in the game liked his game and what it brought, enough to sign him for 4 years

I was just reading in the other thread about the LTIR with Grabovski. How exactly does the cap relief work involving LTIR?

The 4th line was non-existent in the playoffs WITH Matt Martin. This was not just my opinion. It was remarked on many times by the experts that Shawn Thornton's 4th line completely neutralized the Islanders' vaunted 4th line.

They were a PO team the year before Upstate. Your oK with them taking a step backward instead of growing or building on there success? You may be ok with it but for me its unacceptable!

There are many pieces in building a championship or winning team. Each piece has their job and together they grow an create an identity and team that succeeds.

Hes an interesting article to read.
