Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks watch & wait, enter bye week as trade deadline approaches The Vancouver Canucks go into their five-day bye week on a down note after a hard-fought effort resulted in a 3-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday at Rogers Arena.

Willie doesn't need to be a playoff coach... Canucks will never be in the playoffs with him at the helm again

If Lack can get us a third, surely Burrows can land us a 2nd? #wishfulthinking?

Montreal is a top team in the east no reason why they can't give up a 2nd.

Thanks Carol. The team has heart.

Some of us are thinking bye week is trade week. Barring love and importance of current Canuck players some things just seem inevitable. Be it Vegas asset management or stacking up draft odds.

Again no real pressure that JB has to do something @ TDL but if he were what would entice him?

Care to speculate on trade scenarios?

I don't know why you laugh, its not like burrows is terrible.

He's good defensively
draws penalties
he can play anywhere on a lineup
He's got playoff experience
he gets underneath the skin of opposition

thats everything that a team looking to go deep in the playoffs want.

your logic everytime in the comment sections of these blogs are getting really old.

League standings are what matters, and they are currently 10th, which I dont think is high enough to start calling their 2nds equal to a high 3rd rounder.

I kinda hope Burrows goes to NYR though. Seems like a good fit for their needs, his chances of winning and coaching familiarity

Also a good fit with AV.

I could see Burrows in PIT was well.

Burrows is better than Derek Roy.

Perhaps...a 3rd would be a huge win. He could probably shore up a teams 4th line but I am not sure what a team would pay. There will be cheaper and younger options available at the deadline. Trade Hansen

Sure and maybe that's the high end of his value to Habs. Though two other things factor in perhaps. Like lack of Sellers. Lack of Burr type players being available where many buyers have interest. Values drive up.

Also, JB's assessments for this draft seem to deem 1-20 equal and 20-50 the next grouping. With 50-80 the same quality. So you are right about it being about draft position. Seems the rounds are even more skewed this draft.

I am sure having Burrows would give AV more confidence to NYR's 4th line, despite how skilled Fast and Buchnevich are. That being said they could definitely use a Defenseman more than a winger

I don't think there's anything new to process right now, except that it sounds like Burrows will be open to moving if the team can set up a situation that works for all parties.

The Canucks aren't going to be one of the teams that starts the trade-ball rolling, so we may as well wait to see who makes the first move and what trade values look like in this strange year.

With the expansion draft and the jammed-up standings, I don't think we're going to see many moves as straightforward as "Derek Roy for a second."

My honest expectation is that there will be very limited movement all around the league at this deadline.
