No, that even when healthy they are mediocre at best. I dont want them to just be a hang around 9th/10th place and hope you luck into a playoff spot. That's essentially what we'd be betting on with this current group. I want them in so that it helps set them up for a real run next year in eichel and reinharts last elc years. And I think if management is honest with themselves about the current group they have they could make them moves to put this team in a better spot as early as this year. Based on what ive read I'm HOPEFUL that they are.

A. How much do you think Eichel is going to get? $7M? $8M?
B. More importantly, how much do you think Reinhart is going to get?

Yes, in an ideal world they would be great right now and a cup contender while getting those two on their ELC deals much like Seattle won a Super Bowl with Wilson on his rookie deal, but that is perfect world thinking.

As you said, trimming the fat/dead weight would open up plenty of room to sign both Eichel and Reinhart to their next deals ($10M total?) and allow room to bring in another impact player.

The German is spitting fire today and I love it!!

Admittedly is and yes they absolutely could win after eichel and reinhart sign. I just believe that year gives them the best shot. Most of the core players will be at or near their prime and if you ditch the dead weight while 15 and 23 make nothing you can all in at the draft, off season and deadline without crippling your team. It would also make them fun to watch assuming the players they add dont suck of course.

stats say that November was brutal from an offensive perspective and that defense and goaltending held the fort despite a pk that dropped precipitously
