Adam Proteau: Stumbling Isles still have time, talent to turn season around The Islanders' shootout loss to Philadelphia Thursday was another stumble for an organization that entered this season with big goals – but although they've struggled, this is no time to give up on them. There's still lots to like on the Isles, and they've still got opportunities to turn around their year.

Think that with 70 odd games still to go there is plenty of time to turn the season around. Way too early to be worrying about missing the playoffs. Give them another month and see how they settle in.

Capuano needs to go along with the guy that hired him.

Garth Snow proved he shouldn't be a GM when he signed Rick DePeitro to that ludicrous contract a has reinforced it by signing and cutting PA Parenteau in what can only be described as a crime against hockey.

Jack Capuano has not been a bad coach but it seems like the Islanders could do better and it's time for a change.

I can't even begin to address how off-base this entire post is.

While Snow was GM when DP was signed to that contract, that was purely a deal driven by Charles Wang.

Not sure how the DP deal and then the waiving of PAP, which basically book-end Snow's entire career, are the two things that define him. A million-and-one things have happened in between those two events.

Capuano is a putrid, brainless bench boss. That's inarguable.

You can defend Snow that as Wang's partner, they built a low budget club with young talent but now they are a high cap team and Snow's lack of judgement is comings through.

I credit Peter Chiarelli with trading him Boychuk and what became the picks for Barzal and Beauvillier. After winding up with Reinhart who is not NHL level, he still rolled the dice for Larsson.

In this league there are a lot of good teams so no guarantee they become a playoff team this year along with a group of others who were in last year.

Islanders and Rangers essentially had same points last year. Islanders found a positive that they won a round. Rangers learned a lesson because they lost the first round.

Islanders may be in panic mode but that's because of a lot of inflated egos and refusal to learn how to play a disciplined system. Their coach is an experienced college coach who only has teams that played on weekends. Coach and GM need to befollowing the NHL game plan for building this tea

Really, aren't you beginning to address how off base my post was???!!!

I think your a bit harsh on Jack but I don't watch him that much. I wasn't serious about Snow. I mean I think he's a bad GM but not because of PA P.

He has been and always was the absolute worse coach I've seen in my life time. It's been discussed ad nauseum for 6 years on our thread. His decision making has always gone against common sense.

No way Garth and Cappy have it in them to turn this around in a big way. It's going to come down to the owners.

You cannot compare this Islanders team to last year's Penguins squad. One was considered a contender and the other a mediocre team to start.

Adam, what are your thoughts on 43% of all women and 53% of white women voting for the wussy graber? Can I go back to watching port now?

I await your command.
