He noted that his role had changed somewhat -- from being the team's main offensive-minded threat from the blueline (the role Gostisbehere assumed) to being more of the puck-moving have of veteran pairing with defensive defenseman Nick Schultz. Streit said that he felt the pairing had worked well and he thought his own season turned out well.

The bolded part is troubling. I think the pairing, as a whole, got overwhelmed quite often. Streit, who was always great at handling/moving the puck the prior 2 seasons, handled that thing like a hand grenade this year. Instead of making the quick reads he was always great at, he just wheeled and threw the thing around, and was generally careless with it. I like him, and appreciate what he did for 2 years, but I'm a bit perplexed by how he can think his season went well if he is open and honest as Bill talked about.

Not everyone can be a Jagr. You can definitely tell the last few months of the season and the playoffs he's a 38 year old veteran.

I've been a fan of Streit since we got him, but with the emergence of Ghost, i think it would have served us best to trade him before the start of this season in terms of trading when his value is higher. Of course no one could have predicted or saw Ghost coming in so hot, nor such a decline in Streit's game, but we all obviously knew Streit could have been moved and his return value has been debated as long as last year's deadline. I hope this long offseason and his decision to not participate in worlds allows him to get healtheir and prepared for next season, whether it's in a flyers sweater or another team's sweater.

Hasn't Jagr gone 30+ games in the playoffs without a goal?

I concur with jMatch,

Streit reminded me a little of Kimmo at the end. Struggled keeping the puck in the zone. looked slow reading the play.

I think if they can move him sooner rather then later it would be best. Could Chicago use a good vet to play with Van Riemsdyk on the third pair?

Streit for Bickell? Flyers keep enough to offset the contracts?

Hell I would even be interested in giving Chicago their 2nd rounder back if it meant maybe we could get Ryan Hartmen in the deal.

I don't care if the guy is 60, that's pathetic.

Honestly, that puzzled me. Streit has always been very self-effacing and straightforward. I did not think he looked close to his usual standard (even apart from points). He was just OK overall and not even close offensively but he said he felt fine. To me, he looked like he was laboring to get around; not all that different than how he looked early in the season.

I think that a detached pubic plate would slow anyone down for quite a while after the designated "recovery period". It's got to affect skating and comfort in a big way.

As much as I like Streit, I hope that the Flyers can find a deal that would send him to a contender. Let him finish off his career with a legit shot at the cup. Eating some salary would make him more attractive to other teams, while potentially increasing the return.

No quotes.

He did go through a pretty bad injury/surgery. As a player of his caliber and professionalism I give home the benefit of doubt.

If he stinks at the start of next season he's getting booed.

If I never see the term 'detached pubic plate' again, it'll be too soon. *shudder*

Positive vibes and best wishes to MacLeish and his family.

My biggest regret with Streit is that he wasn't a Flyer earlier in his career.

Great underrated, intelligent hockey player.

This season was tough to watch, but I love the guy.

Best wishes to MacLeish.

Even when he returned from injury and was playing, you could still see it impacted him: there were times earlier on in his return when he hesitated to shoot or take a typical rip from the point. Whether it was pain prevention or a mental fear of reinjuring it.

I hope with Streit it was an injury issue that he can overcome, versus a steep decline.

Question about Myers and the Huskies: Has he been the de facto #1 guy on their blue line in play offs? Sounds like he's playing in all key/critical situations.

Possibly Hextall's insistence and policy that nobody discusses injuries with the media, except Hextall?

How much time is "quite a while?" Say....4 months?

So Hextall is not allowing players to say, "I didn't play up to my expectations," or, "I feel a little worn down?"

I wouldn't expect the guy to give a detailed medical report, but it seems like he's not aware of his level of play and/or being misleading on his health.

He didn't miss any extra time after coming back did he?

You would think if something was bothering him that they would have sat him.

Nope, not anything significant at least. He had the surgery, rehabbed, got cleared, and came back and, to be blunt, sucked.

I hope he either gets traded or bounces back, but would be surprised if it's the latter.

I would almost rather move him sooner then later. I Know we could put him on LTIR if something happened like before but I would rather keep some salary and get an asset over waiting and maybe get nothing.
