Carolina head coach Bill Peters (Babcock’s former assistant in Detroit) had similar problems with the Hurricanes last season, as they went 10-23-4 to start the season. But the group rebounded in the second half, going over .500 in spite of moving out veterans Andrej Sekera, Jiri Tlusty and Tim Gleason before the trade deadline.

No. The blog says he MAY be a cut and if so needs to clear waivers to be sent down. Depending if Babcock keeps 8 Dmen or 14 forwards.

Price, Stroman and Richardey won't start again in the regular season. Would be nice for Edwin to hit 3 more dingers so they can have 3x40, but oh well.

What I don't get is, wouldn't you try to match up with the wild-card winner? They will have their ace going in that game putting them out of the next games. Maybe I'm over simplifying though.

I don't have a good answer; it's kind of curious. 2 wins in the last 4 games would guarantee the AL pennant (they have a 1 game lead + the tiebreaker over KC) and home field till the end. They must feel it's more important that these guys get rested.

Hopefully the pull off 2 more wins and/or KC doesn't win their ALDS matchup anyway and it all won't matter.

Thankfully no. He's been pretty good and the COACH sees it too. Same with Brown. Not saying either will make it, but it'll be pretty stupid to not give him the longest look. They deserve it. And if either make the team, they'd deserve it. They've been a lot better than some of these vets/locks like Matthias, Holland, Arcobello, Komarov..

As much as I want them to put Brown-Nylander with Kapanen in the Marlies and let them grow down there, I wouldn't be surprised if the first two make the team and learn with the big club under Babs..

Finishing ahead of kc really only matters if they play them. And then go 7 games. Also resting your best so they can be ready for the playoffs is better than planning for a slim chance of that happening
