I'm posting this in multiple treads because I need to rant:

Nobody should be surprised the Habs can't score right now. The offence is playing like they are the Buffalo Sabres. The ONLY thing they are trying is point shots through 4 players or weak shot of the sideboard to try to get a rebound. Those kind of shots can works sometime, but statistically they only works about 1%-2% or the time. What is the Habs shooting percentage right now ? Exactly that, 2%, down from around 10 % in the regular season (which was already not that good). Right now they score 1 goal for 50 shots. 50. Shots.

Where are the lateral pass one-timers, the tic-tac-toe plays, the cut-in-the-midlle wristers, the occasional deckes ? The high-risk high-reward plays ? I don't remember seeing one tried since game 3 in Ottawa. They are not always appropriate to the situation, but they are the kind of plays a team score on most of the time.

If you force your team offence to play like a bottom-feeder grinder-full team, you get the same results.

I think the coaching staff is not implementing a strategy that can win on the long term, on the offensive side at least. Either they need to change the system, or they need to go and be replaced by somebody else.

Therrien managed to have a pretty effective offensive strategy in the lockout year, so we know he could do it. He just chooses not to.

Love this, Brian! Very eloquent.

And sadly, very true... Especially what Gallagher said

Being creative on offense can cause turnovers, no place for that in the game.

It could work if they had a powerplay.

Interested to see where Petry ends up in the off season. Would love to see him a Sens jersey but were cheap as (frank) so thats probably not happening.

I was talking with a buddy of mine who's a Habs fan and he claimed that either Petry or his agent said that he'd like to play outside of Canada. Anyone know if theirs any truth to this?

Wow. Sucks don't it, to play well enough to win, but not win game after game. Well my guys almost tied it up and certainly made a series out of it. What have your guys got?

Of course. It's not like we have the best goalie in the world to prevent the slight increase in chances coming the other way after all.

Montreal hasn't played well enough to win a game this series. just like Ottawa didn't play well enough to win more than 2 games last series. the scoreboard is always just. you've got a pretty big loser mentality there.

If by some miracle MT gets canned then you know his replacement is going to be Guy Boucher right? Only good french speaking coach available and that's not saying much.

he won't get canned. even if Mike Babcock called up Marc Bergevin and offered to coach for free, Therrien wouldn't get fired.

As long as he would change the offensive system, and brings a new PP coach with him, that's an improvement anyway.
