True enough, the only time we really need him is right now with all the injuries, other than that he should be eating corn dogs in the press box. At least that's my opinion.

Johnston is doing great things so far. He is so smart and game plans well. I just hate that he is handcuffed right now. I do think it is pretty clear Harrington can take Scuds role away with ease.

Scuds has been our most consistent D-man, consistently average/slightly above and consistently healthy; in short yes he absolutely is having a bounce back year after last years debacle.

The time is now, make a move. Because of where we sit in the standings it maybe a simple move to say "lets just wait out the injuries". If that is the mind set of the Pens right now then they need to bench Sid and Geno and let the baby Pens play it out. This stretch with no help is going to wear down Sid and Geno, possibly to the point of effecting them all season.

This is a pivotal time for the Pens, could be very costly if a move isn't made ASAP.

Stewart, Jagr and Glencross and be done with it.

Probably a good time to trade for a forward.

How do we fit them under the salary cap? And Stewart is trash

I love trash, we would obviously have to send some players the other way; to make room.

All 3 could be had for little to nothing, except maybe Glencross.

Crosby changed his game a bit after the concussions, but he still put up very good goal scoring numbers. But since that wrist injury last year, he's been well below his average.

These stats include playoffs...

Pre-concussion Crosby:
Games: 474
Goals: 245
Goals per game: .52

Post-concussion Crosby before wrist injury:
Games: 148
Goals: 67
Goals per game: .45

After wrist injury Crosby:
Games: 55
Goals: 13
Goals per game: .24

Agree with last statement, the time to trade is now, even though it'll come off a little desperate on our end. Yes Jagr, yes Glencross, no Stewart.

Would rather have Stafford over Stewart, but I agree, a move needs to be made now.

I disagree about Scuds. He is consistently below average. If you can dump him in a trade I say do it.

Yep, post concussion Sid was still very good, not a huge drop off but still some. Since his wrist injury he has just been off. Has anyone else noticed how Sid never dangles on breakaways? He will always shoot it now, maybe make one slight move but nothing at all like he used to. I don't expect him to have a highlight reel goal every time.. but shooting it every time just hasn't worked. He almost never shoots on the powerplay as well. The past couple of games his passes have just been wtf worthy.. some have been great no looks, but mostly they have been straight to the other team. Sid did get shafted though on that broken stick that he eneded up whipping at the boards with the wide open net.

Do not worry pens fans, Sid will bounce back. You can see game after game he is competing, maybe too much passes he's making. He needs to get the puck on net and let the magic happen.

Same could be said about Steve Yzerman after the 1993 season, his goals/game took a nose dive. All of those conccussions and wrist injuries he never had must have affected him. Or, possibly, he evolved his game to become a better all-around player while sacrificing some goal scoring.

I would like to say Crosby is doing the same thing + lack of top 6 help

Absolutely. Hornqvist is a legit top-6 player, but far from a bonafide top-line winger. The point is that, yes, his numbers are down. But many leaders will sacrifice personal stats to become better overall players, and that may be playing a part.

What ever happened to the offensive juggernaut firewagon brand of hockey the Pens played?

That brand included no defense and letting the goalie sit on an island with no help. (See past few playoffs)

Dupes missing has really hurt Sids numbers. 14-87-9 was the top line in hockey the past few years.

It always disappears come playoff time because teams tighten up and play better defense... hopefully that's what HCMJ is working on, building a system that can succeed in the playoffs.
