would depend if the Caps are willing to eat some of Green's salary. Otherwise the Kings are worse off with a higher cap hit than if they keep Richards...

trade our best defenseman for one of the worst contracts in the NHL? We need center help desperately, but maybe not that desperately.

A Richards for Green swap is very interesting. Not sure if there would be a little more going back to Caps but with Green being a UFA maybe a player for player swap could work.

Green is an interesting player with alot of upside and can be really dominant i he finds his old game again. dont really know i Richards is the answer for the caps though..

I'd like Vermette to come aboard. I imagine he'd excel under Trotz; he is a bit old though. Hanzal is having a pretty poor year, so maybe you could do a double swap?

Vermette and Hanzal for Green and Chimmer?

Two older dudes and two primo talents - seems more or less even.

I figure picking up Hanzal is more with future seasons in mind; Vermette can slot into 3rd or 2nd line C and Hanzal is pretty versatile - can be pretty much any top 6.

Why would the Yotes take Green and Chimera? With Yandle soon to be offloaded, this restocks the offensive d-pool, while getting younger (on D). Chimmer offers speed, but that's really it.

EDIT: this is fairly reliant on the NHL15 trading rules; I expect real life to be different.

I don't think Richards is the answer, and I think he is fading much faster than most players - maybe injuries have caught up to him.

I think the next team he plays for is going to be in Ontario...so he can retire near his home.

I'd stay away from Richards he's a 3rd line center at best anymore , and with a cap hit of 5.75 till 2019 Not worth the risk imo.

If the Caps' "best defenseman" is one who plays offense but isn't very good at defense, that's all the more reason to trade him. However, that's all the more reason a disciplined team like LA won't take him. I do think Richards would work well in DC, but I doubt it'll happen.

5th defenseman in fenclose this year. Top-10 last year with a rookie defender as his partner. Who is his partner this year? A new rookie defender.

But lets go by what the media and fans of other teams are supposed to tell you about Green. Not everyone can be Luke Schenn
