“the place all players want to play”?
- Colin_Dambrauskas

Isn't this the exact opposite that is said all the time??

I do think that if the Leafs were winning, more stable (seen as more of a sure thing to make the playoffs) that players would want to play here.

Not so sure. I think certain players love the spotlight and certain wish to hide from it. In the 90s -2004 when Toronto was an actual very good team with no budgetary restraints, we didn't land every big name free agent.

Its the center of the hockey universe because its the biggest city in a hockey crazed country and home to the biggest minor hockey league (GTHL).

It is the place players want to play. Mostly against the leafs infront of their family.

Leafs will never git good til they bring local people. Cause they all play harder against us as everyone they know is here. It's counter productive.

Here's the thing - as bad as they have been, it's not much better in most NHL cities. Montreal is so much better than us right? While we have been terrible, they have been just as bad:

since the last Canadian cup win, we have more conference finals appearances and more playoff series wins than the habs (only other centre of the universe candidate) and we missed for 10 years. Wrap your head around that.

My point is, we have been terrible but so have most other franchises. Success really has nothing to do with it. It is based on interest and i'd say no one comes close to interest besides Montreal and because our city is so much bigger, we have more interest.

Serious question.
Say we have a pick that can get us Bennet or Ekblad at the draft.
Who SHOULD we draft?

The first post contains the blogger's headline and the main thread controls, every post under it on the first page is a posters comment which is editable without deleting the thread.

I usually enjoy what you write, but I'm not a big fan of this post. Who is suggesting that all players want to play here? I have never heard any pundit suggest this nor have I heard any players suggest this. Of course when a player is acquired they will say how happy they are to be here and how it's an honour blah blah blah.... but they would only say positive things about any team they were moving to. The only people that suggest every player wants to play here are the callers from Woodbridge on TSN 1050 late night.

Maybe you are trying to stop the stereotype surrounding this team, but this is perpetuating it IMO

well my post was deleted but left in a response. I see nothing wrong with it. Mine was the one about how most NHL cities were bad. Not sure why it was deleted but i didn't mean anything bad by it

Players want to play here is correct. It's how you look at it. They don't want to play for Toronto but IN toronto. As they're family and friends are here. IE. Most players play harder against the leafs in teh ACC than other places.
