If the Flyers had the cap space, they would.

A lot of teams have the potential to do it. Mine included.

Edmonton could use him. Whoever gets him will be getting a good player with an extremely inflated cap hit.

So the real question... is someone going to bust out 6 mil for Nisk?

I think so. The perfect storm is there for it to happen. Career year, extremely limited UFA market, teams with cap room and a need for a D man.

Ding Ding Ding, but can he play the Left Side. Johnson and Barrie are both RHS and dont play their offhand

I'm guessing Colorado too. However, they have alot of decisions looming. Stastny as a UFA, McGinn, ROR, and Tyson Barrie as RFAs. That is alot of $$$ right there to dish out.

Let's be honest, they'll probably do it anyway. In addition to signing Vanek and Ryan Miller to 7 year $60 million contracts. Somehow, they'll still be under the cap.

I thought Colorado as well, but they're already pretty deep with right handed shooters on the back-end. Decent puck movers also. I'm stuck on Detroit. They have the cap space and tje need.

Hmmm....good question. Trade us Duchene for his rights and let's find out.

I've read comments from him before that he prefers to play his off side.

Definitely need to shop around the rights to him... maybe package that and Scuderi for a solid prospect winger and a draft pick.

I'd be happy if he could package his rights and Scuderi for anything, just to get rid of Scuderi.

He's getting $6 million offers, easy.

He knows what a bad situation feels like (the end of his time in Dallas), so he might be a little picky about where he goes, but there are some teams that will throw crazy offers at him.

As a pens fan, ideally they should trade letang and extend niskanen... But nobody's gonna take letangs contract and injury history... So we're pretty much stuck with him and hopefully he has a bounce back year.... With all of blue line prospects and no forward prospects, it doesn't make sense to invest into Niskanen even though he definitely deserves it... And will get it elsewhere...

If thats the case, I would sign him. Let him pair with EJ, and have Hejda slide down with Barrie.

Stastny is probably going to be gone, doesnt sound like they are close on a contract, still lots of cash for ROR, McGinn, and Barrie. MacKinnon will move to C and Avs can still look at signing a RW (Vrbata)?

Well, I look at his rights + Scuds as a legit package deal.... despite Scuderi's bad season, I think its a fair statement he will do better next year if he doesn't take another injury. If a team wanted to lock down their defense sooner rather than later, this could be a pretty quick deal to hash out.

With Boyle likely leaving the sharks, I could see SJ making a pitch for him. I can't see his rights being traded though until after Pierre McGuire is hired

I'd much rather have Letang at $7.25 mil than Niskanen at $6 mil.

He will get major overpaid this summer. Wouldn't be surprised at all if he gets $6.5.

If he is in your top 4, you likely aren't a cup contender. Good 5th-6th defenseman.

Couldn't agree more that its time to put all of this defensive depth to good use. Should have at minimum 3 d-men on ELC's this season. Pair them with Scuds (assuming they don't move him), Martin, Letang. Live with the growing pains from Oct-March and you'll be better off in the long run.

Invest the rest in forward depth.
