I had just posted on the other thread that I wonder if Philly could trade Vinny(if willing to waive NTC) to another team where he can play center for someone elses bad deal. Maybe like the caps for Mike Green since they would like to move that and gives them a nice center since Brooks Laich is always injured. Anyone else think of some bad deals that you could trade for but still might help the team?

Fair take, Bill.

Lecavalier's game has fallen into tweener status. Not good enough skater and 5-on-5 player to to be an effective 2nd line center. And not good enough defensively (or as a skater/forechecker) to be an effective bottom-six forward.

Hopefully a trade can be made. Otherwise, it looks like another season of 40 bouncing around the line-up, wreaking havoc (and not in a positive way).

yeah looks like alot unkowns at this point, if they can find a partner for vinny and use schenn to bring in an upgrade to our d would laughton be able to step in as the #2 center or even move cooter up and put laughton as third?

I get the feeling that Laughton would need a little time on the fourth line or AHL conditioning. Coots is definitely ahead of Laughton for second line duties.

Somehow I think the "move Lecavalier" option seems more doable just considering that Im not sure if you can get what you need for Schenn.

I just hope Schenn continues to develop. As you wrote yesterday, and I agree, Schenn seems to do nothing above average. He isn't particularly big enough to be a power forward. Doesn't pass well enough to be an elite play maker, doesn't shoot well enough to be an elite sniper, doesn't skate well enough to be a speedster, and doesn't play defense well enough to be a shut down guy.

If he learns to be consistently good, I think that is about as much as we can expect, because he will never be great at anything.

i agree with what is being proposed. it will be a trade of bad fit for bad fit. i thought that tampa would have bought out malone but now that he is in the player substance abuse program, they cannot but they coudl trade him (i think).

Toronto would be the best place for vinny. Listening to sportsfan 590 they are in dire need of centers.

I'm much more comfortable losing the limited things Vinny brings to the table versus what B Schenn may be able to bring in a year or two. Vinny still has a wicked one-timer, when he can get open enough to fire it, but he and Schenn put up the same number of goals and even though he's no stalwart, Schenn played much better defensively than VL.

I agree with pretty much everything Bill wrote, with the exception of Schenn being better at Center then at Wing. I don't feel that is the case. I don't think there is much of a difference in his play at either spot. And I also feel that his skill set and abilities are better suited to the Wing.
Regardless, if Lecavalier stays, then he needs to play Center, and with the right compliments on the Wing. If he can get stronger, and get healthy, he can still be a fine 2nd line Center.

if schenn doesnt get traded by the draft i expect him to stay and they will try to find vinny a good home. One of schenn or vinny wont be here next year. It makes more sense to keep vinny. in a two years Couts can move to second line and laughton to the third checking line. it makes the most sense to trade schenn. Personally i would do Myers + for schenn. Buffalo would make a good trade partner in that department.

If the Flyers are adamant about keeping Schenn at Center, then I don't see anyway around that.

One of them will be traded. Too bad baby schenn cant adapt to being a winger. That would be the ideal situation.

really? they need centers. I think their defense is a area of strength for them. Myers has been up and down himself.

I try to move Vinny before Schenn. I want to keep our youth. Plus I didn't mind the line of hartnell - Schenn- Simmonds as a good crash and bang line creating offense from the cycle. I wouldn't mind finding a winger for Voracek and g on the first line. I do think the Flyers will try to accomadate Vinny and get him somewhere he wants to go and can play center.

On malone I know he has issues but you have to look at Vinny holding that cards with the NTC. So any suggestions have to be resonable. Vinny would easily go back to Tampa and maybe that could be a could PR move too since they moved St.Louis. Malone could play as a 4th line winger and maybe a net front presencse on the PP

Myers is still a very young defensman with oodles of potential. Schenn is not good enough at this point to command Myers +. Regardless of Buffalo's needs.

Flyers can't afford that Cap hit for a 4th liner. And they need to add better skating wingers. Not another power forward in the mold of Hartnell.

I understand but any trade of Vinny is liking bring back and unfavorable contract. I was just looking at a logicall trade based on he probably would waive for TB. I am up for other suggestions that could work as well.
