We don't need Sutter, good quality third line player but we need offensively talented young players.

When Kesler is focused on playing hockey he can be a beast. Look at their final run prior to the Bruins series. When he gets sucked into the Canuck mindset of diving, crying and pretending to be tough he loses a lot of what makes him effective because he starts to act like a tumble weed and ends up in the box more than on the ice.

I don't know if it is entirely feasible for the Penguins to even acquire him unless it is other important players leaving town.

I think its the right idea and im glad to see a Pittsburgh person finally admit that Sutter is no Staal and although Shero certainly got the most he could out of the deal they miss Jordan. In saying that i think its takes two top prospects from the team(poliout and bennet) as their first rounder this year will most likely be bottom 5 in a weak draft.

Solid point, but we all know Shero rarely goes after rentals at the deadline. Not saying he wont, but usually not his style. Knowing his history tho he will pull something off that has the entire NHL scratching their head and leaving the penguins fans reeling in delight as he is the master of one sided deals.

Sutter was always billed as a competent 3rd line center, and he is.

honestly id take kesler if you can get him without moving a top rostered asset, you are a much better team with him in the lineup and i have seen him play RW a few times in the past.

Kesler is an interesting option, just scary to think of what he would cost us. If its Sutturd and a high end prospect I say YES! YES! YES!

So, you bring in Kesler as a third line center. He is only as effective as those with him. Who is with him ... he needs competent players, not AHL players.

Mr. Colligan's reasoning forgets one big thing. You spend that $5 on Kesler as your play money, who exactly is playing on Sid's wing? Does Dupuis go third line with Kesler? If so, you need to spend $$$ that you don't have to find a winger for Sid. Too many moving parts to this.

Bottom line, you can't bring in Kesler and keep Niskanen and find a winger for Sid. It's not in the cards because of the cap.

It feels like Christmas hearing Sutter's name in trade rumors, I cant express how happy this makes me.

Kesler can get you at least 50 points playing with plugs (see- Higgins, Booth, etc). Put him on the Pens third line, playing against the other team's bottom d-pairing... he could probably do even better.

Kesler will be playing 1 st line with Parise so forget your fantasies

Your franchise doesn't have the players to get that type of deal from Pittsburgh.

and that doesn't solve one of our most pressing needs, a winger for Sid. I love Kesler as a player, but I don't see this working.
