It was a perfect friendship, because Tarasov spoke no English and neither did Freddie

Nobody should be surprised if Timonen continued playing past 2013-14. He is literally a warrior, who has shown time and again that he'll play-and play at a high level-with injuries that would sideline many players

i just hope the Flyers put together a good season.
if not, i could see him signing elsewhere next year if he has doubts about getting a Cup here

Sadly, if they stumble badly enough, that's a possibility

Hopefully he won't be another sad ending to a warriors career and we can get him a cup. Doesn't seem that hard. Carolina, Anaheim and Tampa did it.

Or what? You are going to wiggle it at them? And everyone with the exception of your wife is going to go running for the exits?

With the roster we have now, and what prospects we have coming up it doesnt seem too unrealistic to say we could put something together for Yandle that wouldnt rip apart the core much. The tricky part would be getting Phoenix to accept. Something like B. Schenn, Meszaros and a 2nd

Phoenix is not going to be happy with Meszaros as part of the return for Yandle. That is not going to get it done.

Take out Meszaros and add Read and you might be able to keep them on the phone.

a Schenn - Giroux - Voracek line would be awesome. Schenn posted a point/game when he was playing with Jake, and I don't think having Giroux in between them will hurt

A second line of Hartnell-Lecavalier-Simmonds would be hell. I'm not sure if it would be hell on the Flyers or the opponent, but someone would be hurting dearly.

It seems like it'd be a checking line on steroids. A bit slow, but definitely has the ability to rock bodies as well as score goals.

Bill, I love this blog today. I mean all of them are good, but I love these topics.

#1 I hope that Timmo stays healthy and signs up for another year.
I can't picture the team without him, even though I realize this may be it.

#2 Do you get the sense that Lavi accepts the idea that is much bandied about on here, that his system of constantly pushing the attack bears any responsibility for the team's misfortune last season? A good example is the ill timed pinching by the defenseman (even the slower skating guys on D) leading to numerous odd man scoring chances. The other thing brought up a ton here is the play towards the end of the season, where the D core resembled Adirondack more then the NHL, and that Lavi seemingly adapted his style to the players and successfully implemented a more conservative approach.

Has coach Lavi ever acknowledged these things to the media that you are aware of?

I like Lavi, but would be encouraged to see him bend his attack all the time style to fit the team and to fit the game situation. I think the Streit addition will help some but overall I still don't think the Flyers have the right team traits to make his go go system a success.
