Great blog Bill.. How long do the Flyers have before they have to offer a contract to Vasiliev?

Also, I am almost positive this has no affect on the Flyers, but what if an NHL team has a prospect playing for Jokerit when they transfer to the KHL... how does that affect that player and the transfer rules?

Took a while to get Emelin in North America. Totally worth it. I hope yours stay in Russia forever.

Bill, what do you think are realistic expectations for Wilcox and Vasiliev? Do you think they have upside as top-4, bottom pairings, or career AHL/tweeners? I know both could exceed expectations, but where do you think they project?

Just the name of the KHL trophy (the Gagarin Cup) screams "anything you can do, we can do better".

Nice job as always Bill.

To me D prospects are like pitching prospects in baseball; you can never have enough of them. I'm very glad that the Flyers have started loading up on them over the last couple of years.

I've never been a fan of too many Russian players, and the whole Ilya Bryzaster hasn't warmed me up to them either.

If Vasiliev never plays for the Flyers because he stinks I'm OK with that, but if he never plays for the Flyers because he never leaves Russia then I will hate the decision to use a pick on a Russian.

As long as Ed Snider (and those loyal to him) is around, you probably won't have to worry too much about the Flyers over-investing in players from the former Soviet Union. Especially ones that didn't train in North America prior to being drafted.

I'm not a big fan of what players like Kovalchuk and Radulov have done. Leaving in the middle of a contract. Players like Jagr, not Russian but did leave for KHL, Bryz, and others... I don't have a problem with them.

If they feel the player has upside but has slipped in the draft, due to the transfer issue. It's worth taking a gamble with a 7th round pick. It's smart drafting.

I'm really glad to hear he could do this, it was heartbreaking to hear he might be held back by PCS.

I'm glad to hear he can continue his career, especially if it's far, far away from Philadelphia.
