I actually had Severson ranked higher than Matteau last season so I went from pretty pi$$ed after round 1, to pretty pumped after round 2 was complete. With him, Merrill, and Gelinas all coming up in the next few years, I find it extremely unlikely that at least one of them doesn't quickly become a very good top 3 puck mover for the Devils. This is why Zid really shouldn't be resigned...

The 7th Dman slot will be a test for Seversen, Urbom, Merril and Gelinas. They will all get a look. One of them will stick and be the 6th Dman if an injury occurs.

Uncle Lou will have another vet dman (re-signing Zidlicky or someone else) brought in regardless.
