Kevin Freiheit: Preparing for a rough season

I think we are going to be pretty bad this year and next
I'm thinking we pick in the top3 of the next two drafts
So by the 2015 season, we should've added two studs to go with all the youth we're developing...
That's when I think we can look towards possibly making the playoffs
Till then, we're going to lose... A lot...
But watching the kids play should be entertaining

Hey guys as an Oiler fan i've experienced alot of pain in the past 7 years and although you may have a bad year this year unlike us 4 years ago your cupboards aren't completely bare. Moving Vanek & Miller will speed up the Process and if you get Conner McDavid in the draft you'll be back to kicking ass very soon best of luck and sorry bout the Vanek deal again..

Although it was only one season, its hard to do as bad as the Devils did last year. You won't lose that many games in a row.

If we started the season with what we have right now (assuming we re-sign CoHo and Flynn) I don't see us being this bottom of the league team. We have nearly the same roster that we did in April and the record for the month was 8-4
Granted they were in a "playoff push" mode but I saw a lot of stuff I liked. They've trimmed players out (Gerbe, Pominville, Regehr, Leopold, Hecht, Sekera) since the deadline and made room for new guys coming up.

That's just the player aspect. They've gotten rid of the coaching staff which I thought was a huge problem and began to do better after Ruff's departure. By my count this is what I saw as the record for each coach last year:
Rolston: 15-10-5 = 35pts in 30 games
Ruff: 6-11-1 = 13pts in 18 games
And that was with Rolston still with Lindy's assistants and limited practice time.

Like I said, I don't see us being the worst team in the history of the league this year. And that's with the roster we have right now. The offseason isn't over yet. But, maybe I'm just overly optimistic.

free agents are usually hated after 2 or 3 seasons. either for their contract or for their play.

No worries, not your fault...
We should've taken the picks!
I agree w your assessment on our future

Have u seen Reinhart play?
I'm hoping we get him in this coming draft (I'm pretty sure we will pick top3)
Have u seen him much?

Maybe, but no one really improved in goaltending and no one did much in improving their defense, two areas in which I think we're doing okay. I think we have solid starters in both Miller and Enroth, and we have a ton of defensemen with NHL experience. Our defense could really be good this year if a certain player bounces back this year..
