Im not gunna do the D-pairings for two reasons.... i don't think our d is set (i think nonis will move one of phanuef or liles) 2nd reason is I think Morgan Rielly might crack the lineup for 7-10 games....I also think kulemin will be moved....need the cap space....no way in hell we sign colborne, kadri, gunnar, fraser and franson for 10mill
kadri will get 2-3mill per
franson will get 3.5-4.5 easily
gunnar will get the same as franson
fraser should be less that 1.3 per
colborne will get 900k for 2 or 3 years
either way something needs to happen....people who are of the belief that this is our team are jumping the gun quite a bit.
I bet nonis' phone is only ringing for dmen - ozzystar
You think Kadri will only get 2-3 mill per? After what Bozak just signed for, I don't see Kadri getting any less than what Bozak got...even though Kadri has only had 1 good year to date...GM's are paying for what will keep a player happy for the longest period possible...2-3 mill maybe on a 1 year deal at most...after that you're not going to be keeping kadri happy to play for so little (nhl salary wise) i'd be shocked if he signed for ANY less than 4 mill...my guess is $4.5 mill per for like 4-5 years...gm's are giving out absolutely ridiculous contracts as of late...all i can say is thank god gillis didn't have cap space to join in the stupidity of what gm's are doing...but ya...back to kadri...gm's aren't paying for what they have right now, they're paying for potential...which is why you see contracts look horrid within 2-3 years of them being signed...because they signed based on what they MIGHT continue to do in the future...i haven't done much research on the leafs cap situation but I've heard they do have some left so i wouldnt worry about it if my prediction of 4.5 mill comes true |

low money with a short term or i don't see a deal happening....lets not kid ourselves here...with what hes done kadri would be lucky to get 3.5...i could see a 4 mill 6 year type thing working but only because of the glorious miracle that is compliance buyouts....see komi, colby, darcy, grabo and clarkson in 5 years

Team only have 2 compliance buyouts.
Leafs have used both.
And in any case, saying you can buy out your young star and lose him for nothing isn't exactly a good argument for a big contract. |

During the ordinary course buyout periods in June 2013 and June 2014, teams will be permitted two compliance buyouts.
There will be more compliance buyouts in the future....and if im a gm im taking that into consideration when im about to lose a potentially good player based on something like the term of the contract...aka...david clarkson
Hes a great 3-5 year signing....but 7?...nonis isnt stupid
if kadri wants bigger money it'll be for longer term...and if he doesnt fulfill his paygrade....see ya |

It's a total of two. GMs can use them both this year. One each year, or both next year... but that's all they had.
Do you have any links that show more compliance buyouts? |

do you have any links showing no compliance buyouts ever past 2014?
compliance buyouts arent going anywhere its the right of the team and a salary cap should only be about a playable roster to be fair to broke teams. It also gives trapped players a chance to be happy...ask lou if he wishes vancouver had more options.
what if phoenix was the one who had dipietros contract and there was no compliance buyouts? there would of been no phoenix 4 years ago....the rangers wouldnt of made the playoffs, and redden would still be lost in the ahl.
...yea you're right though ... only two FOREVER! haha...its the nhl dude...it takes one room of 31 guys and one of 5 or 6 to change whatever they want...how bout them jets |

oh lord stop making glucky (frank)y look smarter than he really is, teams get 2 compliance buyouts due to the drop in salary cap...the cap is not expected to stay as low as it is every year...the next time you MIGHT see more compliance buyouts is if in 8-10 years there is another useless lockout and the salary cap drops in a hurry yet again... |

So, your argument is that they might change the rules... and GMs should make decisions based entirely on that possibility.
Cool.

Eff Gunnarsson. I rode an elevator with him and Schenn in TB and I could probably snap his pencil neck with one hand. We don't need d like him.
I also got the feeling that if I told Schenn a riddle he would have an aneurysm. - Skalapy

Bozak was UFA that's the big difference. Kadri will get less. |

Not a whole lot less...I'd estimate $4-$4.5...Kadris a far better player anyways |

He is. One was 7th overall, one was undrafted. That doesn't tell the entire story of course (Oates and Belfour were undrafted), but Kadri has so much more raw talent.
Bozak's offensive numbers are bad given his ice-time and the fact he plays with two star wingers. |

Save cap room. Let the expensive vets go and finally give the kids a shot to play.
Raymond will be much more expensive now. Why do we want him back? |

raymonds an asset to the team depending the cap hit
never hurts to have speedy winger like him at your disposal.
If you are playing a team with a few slower D, and raymonds only playing 10-15 mins a night hes always able to go full out . You catch them on a long shift or off guard theres a breakaway or odd man rush |
