oh man you are just asking for a sabres fan invasion with that post

I won't pretend to be an avs expert but when you're bottom three in the league I don't think goaltending should be your biggest concern (I also happen to like Varlamov so..)

I think it's the same case with Dubey. When the team in front of him isn't playing like dogsh1t. You'll know if he's good enough.

Varlamov actually made some very good saves. He could've easily given up many more goals. Team sucks. I've been struggling to watch the games the second half of this "season". I can't wait for this pain to end for us as fans...

Your coach is horrible. You guys need structure, and defense. Only then will you properly know the worth of Varly.

This is bang on, I still have faith in Varly once those are implemented, but man would I love to have Anderson, Stewart, and Shattenkirk back right now

wouldnt be surprised to see big management moves, lets hope Ruff can get his coaching GM job here, have great potential up front only really missing a solid top 6 winger and one or two bottom 6 character guys. Defence is a mess Johnson, Barrie and heida are the only true guys on the back end Elliot should be improved for next year. only current unsigned players i see the Av's looking to lock up for another year or two his Hejduk and Malone

I would say the wish list would be something like
Ian White
mike koska
andrew ference
ray whitney
MacArther
michael ryder
Bozak
Bryan Bickell
matt cooke

Available:
David Jones

Why are you talking about the Avalanche if you're a Laugh fan? This post is HYSTERICAL at best.

The Avs want/need NOBODY on that terrible list you provided us.

This is a terrible attempt at a troll post, and if you're at all serious, I seriously suggest you have your head examined.

Better hope he is. You gave up alot for him. But gonna bet most of it, is management issues. Maybe a better goalie coach. Though I thought Giggy woulda would been good for Varly. The defense infront of him is awful. EJ is awful. Maybe with the right management and coaching this is salvageable.

It's funny how good coaching and solid team D can make a goalie infinitely better. I think Varlamov is a good goalie, needs time and a better team in front of him. He's young, needs patience.

Really? Do you mean as a back up to Niemi? Because he has been spectacular this year. Should be a Vezina finalist.

Why should anyone be prohibited from participating in any discussion that doesn't directly involve their favourite team? Its a hockey site and constructive conversation should be encouraged by all parties, not stifled.

That being said, the list he provided is pretty weak, although Bozak has to be one of the best bang for your buck players in the league this year at a paltry 1.5M. Next year may be a different story after he hits the UFA market.

Ryder, and maybe ference is the only name on that list that I believe has any potential to see positive changes.

All the chatter by Denver Sports writers is that Sakic might step up next season to start to become involved, Sherman might still around but to really be the puppet master like they have with the Broncos and Elway. Sacco should get the ax, but I dont know who they would get to come in, Boucher is a guy that interests me, maybe even Iron Mike, now he would get that team whipped into shape.

As for a list of available/targets
Stastny will be traded
Jones will be bought out
Zanon/Hunwick/O'Brien should be demoted, traded, or bought out...whatever you have to do to clear up roster spots.
Hejduk will retire

Parateau, Duchene, (target)
Landeskog, O'Reilly, Downie
McGinn, Mitchell, Palushaj
Malone, Olvr, McLeod

Johnson, Wilson
Barrie, Hedja
(Target) (Target)
Elliott

I won't judge him and have expectations until they put a defense in front of him.

Big changes this off season. Nice to add another top 3 pick but lets face it, we'll be near the bottom next year as well. Especially if we land Seth Jones because he should dominate the juniors next year and stay far away from the Avs.

We solve the Stastny/O'Reilly sega by trading one of the two. I have a feeling it's Stastny that's gone and it's going to kill us watching him succeed with another team (we all know it's going to happen).

Please Please Please sign some guys with a little heart. Maybe some size. Just make it a little more difficult to run over us.

Stastny is going to look great in a Leaf Jersey slotted between Kessel and JVR.

I wouldn't put it past the Leafs to go for him...and to be honest, Leafs are generally a generous trade partner because they have so much pressure to pull off those kinds of moves. I don't think anyone in Colorado would care if he's stuck out East.

Neimi has been ok this season. I woudln't put him in Vezina at all. His rebounds have been horrible and isn't the guy that has stolen any games. He got a major upgrade for the D in front of him. Niemi is one of the first I'd trade.

I wouldnt mind seeing him tearing it up out East, just another example to show the Upper management brass that the current model is broken and it needs to be fixed.

Now I want Seth Jones even more if Jay-Z is his agent. If Beyonce wears an Avalanche jersey, I will call it even Avs Management for being so terrible

Of course Varly is our goalie for the future, anyone who thinks he isn't has to be kidding themselves. Any goalie would have terrible numbers with Zannon and Hunwick playing in front of them (I am not even stating them as the worst 2, they both get significant minutes.). Varly has flat out stolen a handful of games and everyone knows the avs Dcore is one of the worst in the league (especially with EJ and wilson out for most of the year and barrie in the minors).

A goalie needs a decent group of defensemen in front of them before you criticize them. Also the coaching style has a lot to do with it as well. A good example is Bryz (remember when everyone and their mom thought he was a top 3 goalie) The same goes for Smith who isn't nearly as good as his numbers would suggest.

Ryan Miller is also an excellent goalie, but his team in front of him is soft (Just like the avs) and it shows.

Varly has posted a better GAA than Kippersoft which is a good comparison of a good goalie on a bad team. Varly also has a better Save % than Halak, Bryz, and Kipper again who are all competent starters. He is tied for 3rd in Shutouts with 3 which proves that he steals games.

Finally if you have watched him play you can tell he is an amazing Goalie. He can make stops that will make you drop your jaw. He is YOUNG which is one of his biggest assets is that he will be our starter for a very long time. All year varly has had other forwards get a free lane to the crease and left there to roam free and passing lanes wide open.

There are many things wrong with this team, varly isn't one of them and to think he is is short sighted.

I hope they don't get rid of Varly. Look at some of the past goalies they've traded away that are now stars in other markets (Anderson, Elliot, Theodore) the Avs are way to quick to boot their young talent especially in the net which is why I don't buy any of their jerseys, I honestly don't know who will still be on their team next year. What needs to change is the man behind the bench, its not that he is particularly a horrible coach I just think he's lost control of his players. For next year...
1) Hire George Gwozdecky the former DU coach should've never been let go.
2) Get Joe Sakic as a GM
3) Keep as many players as you can. Everyone says Stastny is out but he is a core player that is respected by fans, they'll make their fanbase pissed by trading him.

Theodore and elliot are average at best and Andy and MGMT had a falling out.

Sakic has already been approached for the GM job but felt he wasn't ready for it yet and I don't think sherman is as much to blame as Sacco, Lacriox and the Owners.

I would love Gwoz as the new coach, everyone in Denver loves him that much it would be instantly loved by the fans and he is a great coach.

Also MGMT has already decided to trade stastny during the summer.
