Useless (frank)ing devils...

THEY just simply aren't any good.....and it's been many years since I could say that. We'll be happy if we have that many years of "good" in a row. Very happy

kindly it was pretty much only me and you that like Bailey always. 90% of this blog wanted him shipped out of here.

Bailey has finally Matured as player. He looks big out there, Strong on the puck, was always able to dangle, and is more confidence letting his shot go now.

If you really think about it. This road trip. We beat two very hot teams (tor and jets) at their homes in games that both teams really wanted to win badly.

What is impressing me most about isles is how calm they remain. Even thought Jets tied it in last second of the game, Isles still almost won it several times before winning it in SO.

I'm in the 10 percent who wanted him to stay. However I was getting impatient with okposo. That said happy we kept both players.

You could probably add Frans, Bailey, KO to list of possibilities also....

Frans yes, but the way Bailey and KO are playing right now i highly doubt it

Why is Frans always the first one that can be traded? he is 4th on the team in points, he isnt playing with JT but 6 points behind Boyes. He's our best PKer, our best 2 way forward. I just dont get it.

I never said I want Fran's to be traded
But I could see him being included in a package to bring in a star

However, BD gallof has said numerous times that he thinks Grabs would be the one to be traded this summer. Grabner is invaluable on the PK, and he is good for a breakaway every other game.

Trading grabs would be just stupid. He plays on 4th line and get zero pp time. Yet he has 16 goal this season.

Everyone likes to complain about him not finishing his breakaways. Let me ask you this. Name me a other player that even creates those type of opportunities for himself. Our pk is as good as it is b/c of 2 players. Grabner and nabby.

Also you guys have to realize something. You can expect a NHL top talent and give up nothing in return.
If snow listen to guy on this board, we would be rebuilding still

That's actually not true. There were quite a few Bailey fans myself included but if it makes you feel smarter than everyone by all means think what you want.

I'd probably say grabner is our best pk guy with Frans a close second.

Trading grabner would be ridiculously stupid I agree. He is the unsung hero on this team look no further than the last game for proof. The coaching staff seems to have some kind of problem with him which I just don't get? Has to be one of the most versatile players I've seen. If they trade him they will regret it in so many different ways. Btw, we are still rebuilding.

it all depends on what you get though

If Mark Streit doesn't return, that leaves a gaping hole on the Isles blueline, and with all the good very young forwards the Isles have waiting for their chance, they may be able to fill that hole on defense with a trade involving Grabner.

I think he's awesome though. Love Grabner.

The guy is the best penalty killer this team has had in years combine that with his goal scoring ability and the fact the guy scores in clutch situations he is invaluable to this team. He is much more valuable than the return we would get for him.

realistically you gotta look at the return before you say that though

as fans, we tend to fall in love with players because of our loyalty

but, nobody should be thinking about that now, Islanders have as good a chance as anyone of making some serious noise in the playoffs.

And I am the guy who told you guys that on this blog back in January when you guys were already looking towards the draft.

It would be flat out foolish to trade Grabs. The guy is an unbelievable skater, sick on the PK, has solid scoring ability and get breakaways almost every game. If he could just work on scoring on those breakaways a little more then he would be even more important than he already is to this team. Why Cappy has him buried on the 4th line is a mystery to me. Get Boyes off the first line and give Grabs a try on there. My friends and I never understand why that hasn't been tried yet. Cappy...

Well, we are Isles fans so we have come to expect the worst. Hopefully those tides have turned now and that thought process will change.

I thought the same thing.. Ive never done anything but support Bailey. My only issue with Bailey since day one was that he showed he was a much better wing then center & I always pushed for him to be a wing... going all the way back to when Schremp was here. Josh played REALLY well on his wing. Every time he was put back at center his game declined.

its not a coincidence that bailey is coming into his own with "Top 6 linemates" playing top 6 minutes. That second line has been dominant, and in my opinion the reason why the isles are in playoff contention. Watching okposo drop his gloves and go after bogosian spoke volumes. Isles are playing like a playoff team finally......all 4 lines contributing.

i guess the obvious answer to your question about boyes vs grabs on line 1, is that the isles are en fuego. Not sure of the exact stat but theyve gotten points in what 12 games in a row? It aint broke, so dont fix..

because if we held onto him we wouldn't be trying to find a wing to play with JT.

Even tho the Team is playing very well, and wish they make some noise in the playoffs,

BUT we have to stop the homerism of our players just bc they are finally playing well rite now.....

It has taken about 30 games for Bailey, KO, Frans to put it together, that's not good enough for the isles moving forward. If next year they start off slow, we will be singing the same tune as we did in the beginning of this year....
Grant it, I will not trade them for trade sake, but have to look into improving the team..

Grabner....his only strength is speed, the only reason he plays 3rd line mins is bc his speed causes match-up problems for other teams weaker lines, which give isles an advantage....But for the right price or player, trade candidate also.

a little recap from the bridge. the biggest news is Anders Nilsson played back to back games this weekend and was very sharp giving up two goals on saturday and one on sunday. so this was very encouraging. Kabanov scored a very nice goal which was encouraging to see as well. Matty Donovan finished tied for the ahl lead in points by a defensman. i can't say enough how impressed i was with him. Quietly Pedan and Mayfield look really comfortable on the ice and their skating is much better than i thought it would be. Nelson finished off a great season with a rocket goal from Strome. If this team had half a season together they would have made the playoffs. Some very encouraging signs down here and players who are gonna be chomping at the bit for ice time in the next training camp.

PA was given his opportunity w/isles and took advantage of the time with JT, might have become a better player for it, but was not worth the $$$
Now he is playing 1st line with Aves, he should be putting up numbers bc Duchene & Landesklog are great players.

If you get 1st line mins, u have to try and produce, simple as that......
