Lots of rumours, lots of opinions on his yet to be signed contract.

As a Habs fan I love PK's upside. I don't see a Norris Trophy in his future, but I see him just outside that tiny, elite echelon.

But *** IF *** PK is to be traded there are few deals that I could imagine making sense.

Only one I have thought of that Habs could make without being skewered is with Plekanec to Pittsburgh for Crosby or Malkin. Undoubtedly other pieces for equity and salary cap purposes.

LOGIC: Malkin has consistently played better when Crosby is out and he is the uncontested #1 guy. Pleks is a very good #2 centre and PK becomes part of a young defence where he can develop without immense pressure.

It is simply a discussion post; no prediction of likelihood.

OK, I've posted this elsewhere in the past but I'll do it here as well. When the "+" is more than what you have listed, you might as well say "Crosby and Malkin to the Habs for a 7th rounder +"

This is just terrible.

Pleks + Subban + 10 years worth of draft picks? It's close, but Pittsburgh might need to add a later rounder to even things out.

If PK is indeed dealt then it would have to be for a Dman in return. Habs achilles heel is their Dcore. Sure they have some top notch blue chip prospects on the horizon but they need someone now.

The answer is still to have PK part of this team and I do not think he will be dealt but if he is then I can imagine him going to San Jose along with a guy like Rene Bourque and a 2nd rounder pick in exchange for something like Vlasic and soon to be UFA Ryane Clowe

Totally agree the goal is to have him in the lineup; the post was hypothetical: *** IF *** PK is to be traded ...

WOW, an answer in the spirit of the post ... Thank you.

That framework would be interesting *** IF *** a deal were to be made involving PK

if you're looking for a serious response post a serious question. And that means not posting something ridiculous as Subban and Plekanec for Malkin.

If you read the actual words I wrote to start this, the Malkin or Crosby deal was one for which the Habs wouldn't b skewered.

When a post is hypothetical (other than of the Colton Orr for Malkin variety) the spirit of the post is that if you think the subject deal is way off, then what more needs to be there?

PK is at least a top 3 defenceman, maybe a true #2, Pleks is one of the better #2 centres in the league. That is not ridiculous as a starting point.

I think Anaheim would probably listen offers for Getzlaf and/or Perry for PK Subban. Both are UFAs at the end of the short season. Also, it might be a long shot but Boston might be interested to reunite the brothers, if so, Dougie Hamilton would be the perfect fit to replace PK.

Agree Anaheim would listen, but the habs don't need a player who would likely be a one and out player.

A Habs-Bruins deal? Doubt it.
