Just wanted to do a survey.

During the 2012-13 Regular Season, do you think Galchenyuk will:
a) Play 10+ games in the NHL
b) Play less than 10 games in the NHL
c) Play zero games in the NHL

A)

Once he gets in there, they will see how good he is and won't be able to bring him back down. You took the guy we wanted, but then again I'm happy with our choice.

I am hping we don`t even see him for 9 games.
He is not ready for NHL having played limited minutes in the CHL. He needs to develop, add some muscle and come back in 2 years ready.

Now is not the time for this kid.

He's the guy I wanted too, but no way in hell should he be in the NHL. That's essentially jumping from a season at 16 to the NHL, as he missed his season at 17. That's insane.

But I don't share the philosophy of willey101. Galchenyuk has already a good size and if he's that good, let him play with the big boys right now.

he's physically ready for the NHL, and had he played last season I would've kept him on the wing for the 2nd/3rd line.

i wouldn't burn a year off his ELC this season. next year a few rookies will be pushing for spots, and some young guys like Eller and Leblanc will have more prominent roles with the team. Galchenyuk will be part of that.

B.
I think he will play at least 1 game in the NHL in the regular season, but will be sent down after some games (before he reaches the 10 games mark).

Gallagher and/or Beaulieu are also 2 players who might also play regular season games, and one might stay...

Big doesn't mean ready. By all accounts Galchenyuk is 6'2 but somewhere under 190 lbs. He's tall and skinny and has not had a complete season of hockey in 2 years.

If he plays more than 9 games then we'll have lost 1 year of his ELC for a player who won;t see premiere minutes.

I just don't want to see the same mistake with him as we did with Latendresse.

He's around 200lbs

Anything that says he's at 185 is from before last season. He has NHL size right now

Exceptions to every rule. Plenty of examples of kids who jumped right to the NHL to dominate

Agreed, however, they had not missed an entire season of junior prior to making the jump.

Yep. There is no way Galchenyuk or Rielly should get NHL time this season.

No doubt. That's why I hope he doesn't see actin in the NHL this year.

I'd say B,

They will keep him on 3rd line and give him few 2nd PP time and send
him back after his 9 games (of course if he has 7-8 goals in 9 games,,
they'll keep him up...).

Personally I'd return him after 9 games anyway (9 games in NHL is the
experience of half a season in junior...). We don't need him this year
(i think everyone agree that we wont make a run at the cup next year...).

But we're talking about Montreal, if he scores like crazy and dominate in
his 9 games and they still return him, we'll have a riot... Loll

Sad thing, there are problem 50,000 or more Montrealers who want Kovalev back

I don't know if we can really confirm that. I love Kovalev, and I know a lot of people who also like him.
We cannot argue on his skills and talent. Yes, there are people who don't have a clue about the game, but most knows he won't bring much to the table back in the NHL. I don't know any Kovalev haters, and I don't know anyone who would like him back in Montreal/NHL.

And personally, for the same reasons, I'm kind of glad Montreal didn't brought Jagr in. One of the best talent ever, still can put up a show, but his time has past.

Side note: Dominik Hasek, really? His time has past too.

Same as Laraque or Begin, their time have passed too (they aren't superstars, but at one point or another, they were very good at what they were doing).

I will say that it was too bad Kovy didn't stay to finish off his career in Mtl. I think it would have finished in a much bigger bang than with Ottawa.

His ending was a flop. It's sad. Even if he does come back in the NHL for one last stint, I don't think he'll show up like Jagr. But let's remember Kovalev for what/who he is/was, not how he ended in the NHL.

On a side note, I'm okay with Darche not being resigned, but HIS time hasn't past yet. I really hope he can find work in the NHL, not far from Montreal and his family.

Lets remember what Kovalev for what he was, someone that only showed up sometimes and never produced what his talent should have. Only in Montreal do fans love someone like Kovalev.

Fortunately for Montreal hockey fans, most of them were enough knowledgeable to appreciate his game and to recognize what he did for us in the playoffs.
