Stamkos no. But right now it can be easily argued that he belongs in that next group. - Ben37
well what we're arguing is that;
without sid and the points CK has put up playing beside sid, there's no chance he'd be considered in that next group.
and therefore he's NOT in that next group
someone mentioned that he'd only make it to play beside sid.
what if sid went down? straight to the pressbox?
seems like a waste |

Jealousy has nothing to do with it. If you talk about his chemistry with Crosby as a major selling point in selecting him, and then don't plan on playing him with Crosby, what exactly does he have that many other players don't?
It's a little ridiculous that you're speaking as if Kunitz is being shunted in favour of markedly inferior players considering how many good options Canada has - Morris
No... Just reacting (maybe overreacting) to the downright anger and bitterness that some people bring to this board. How are you by the way, haven't minced words with you since good ol' cloutier? It is close and there are soooo many good players, but Kunitz has shown the ability to make superstars, in crosby and malkin, even better, is a beast on the powerplay, and a rock defensively. if he can make Malkin AND Crosby more productive, why not Thornton, or Tavares, or Stamkos, or... or... or... he absolutely could. |

Has nothing to do with who he plays with. Tavaras played with boyes last yr but that's/equal to who Kunitz played with.
Anytime u wanna remove your head from the sand would be nice - Bieksa#3
is brad boyes making team Canada or can we move on from that irrelevant fact...? |

But that is my argument. Take him and play him with Crosby. Then put Stamkos or Tavares, or Hall or whoever on the other side.
Kunitz can also play both wings. So if your heart throb other player can't play on the left or right side Kunitz can. |

Kunitz is an above average player, but if you put him on another team he's not in the top 10 for scoring. I'd be curious to see Kunitz production if he were on say the Stars, Oilers, Sabres, or Avs. |

Kunitz is not an elite player. - fiveandagame

He still put up points in the games he didn't have Crosby last season.
And my argument hinges on the fact that he will be playing with Crosby. |

There's 12 guys that I might pick over Kunitz. It's seriously not a slight to say that someone isn't the best choice for the Canadian team and the fact that you take it as such makes you sound insane! |

Picking who makes team canada or not makes me sick(as an American) it's like deciding which part of the filet mignon you want. They SHOULD be expected to win. |

id love a gritty guy like kunitz on the oilers!!
but I can tell you for fact he wouldn't be 3rd in scoring with sam gagner as his center.... |

And as I said, that's a fair direction. Not my preference, but I'm not Steve Yzerman.
But as I also said when you entered this conversation, it only started in reaction to the blogger suggesting Kunitz should go AND NOT play with Crosby, which people called a waste. |

hall does. he was actually 10th is scoring in only 45 games. and is over a ppg.
eberle had 35 goals with a rookie as his center
this is the point we're trying to make!!!
put those guys with Crosby and watch them rack up points!! |

He's in the conversation for certain, but I don't see much bitterness in simply suggesting there are other great options that would see Kunitz stay home, especially if - as the blogger suggested - he wouldn't even be playing with Crosby. |

how many of them have proven to make their other superstar linemiates even bigger superstars? Statistically Kunitz fits right in that stack and the reason he isn't there is his pedigree and his name.

That seems to the point that people are stuck on.
His recent production and his ability to play on Sid's wing consistently has to warrant some notice. Especially for a 7 game tournament where guys have to be able to produce from game one. |

well the whole debate kinda started with the comment that kunitz would make it, but wouldn't be playing with sid...
kinda silly.
but even still, there are better players that can play beside sid |
