Same.

As a teen/young adult she was a competitive sailor (Team Ontario and the Canadian youth team) - it doesn't take much to figure out that make-up and salt water don;t mix to well.

Later on she became a mechanical engineer, and decided that people took her much less seriously if she had make-up on versus if she didn't.

It doesn't hurt that she doesn't need any to look awesome anyway

That also means that young blacks put themselves in situations where police are needed 2.3 times more than young whites.

52% of all murders are committed by blacks yet they only make up 12% of the population. Statistics works both ways just like in hockey. Why is it that 12 percent of the population commit over half of the murders in this country? Because white people oppress them??

I would love to see the stats on that one. I'm not saying it's flat out false, just saying that's hard to believe.

Here's a story. In my old truck(extended cab 3 door type deal) someone broke out the rear driver's side window so they could unlock the door to steal my stereo. It was like $300 to get the window replaced. I said "(frank) that noise" and just left it as is, with a hole for a window. I was in Buffalo on Hertel. A cop pulls along side me at a light, looks at the broken window, looks at me, and says "hey your brake lights don't work"(the brake light switch was broken, so none of the lights worked). And I said "oh, hey, thanks for telling me." then he said "have a nice day." If I was black I would've been on the ground so fast as to defy the laws of physics.

Another story, I was in the backseat of a car driven by a black guy coming back from a work meeting and he was speeding, going about 80 in a 65, the kid didn't have any warrants at all, it was just a "routine" traffic stop, and the cop came to the car with his gun drawn screaming for him to put his hands out the window, and to not make any moves, pretty difficult that, huh? Another funny part of that, there were 4 of us in the car and only one black guy, the cop never even looked at me, certainly didn't point his gun at me, the whole time he just kept his gun pointed at the black guy.

I'm not saying all traffic stops with black people start with the cops drawing their side arms, but it did in this instance. The kid got a ticket for speeding 80 in a 65. That's it. Are you going to tell me his race didn't play a factor in the cop drawing his weapon?

well so does mine.. if you ever happen to be driving by my house it would be odd for you to be able to see my wife naked in the living room or wherever.

back when we used to live more in the country and didn't have kids it was nice

I didn't doubt the stat. I just remember seeing that not to long ago and figured i would post it. But MLK stats it was to be understood and dealt with

No. I don't think white people oppress them.

I think it's because societal realities like inexorable poverty and the complete erosion of the traditional family unit - along with other factors including badly structured government assistance programs - create oppressive environments. But regardless of the source of the oppression, it's still oppressive.

Yeah, he was even "working the numbers". Regardless, that is a very high number. Also, at a certain point it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy given the circumstances of the average black person in this country. Kaiser said it better than I can.
