GO PREDS!!
Does anybody think that they have any chance at maybe winning the division this year? We could sure use a banner. |

A big thank you to all the participants in the great discussion on yesterday’s thread. A touchy subject was discussed in a respectful and intelligent fashion. There is hope gang… there is hope.
I will try harder next time. |

The preds got smoked on the faceoffs last night. I'm starting to believe the preds need a wide body forward who can handle the dot when needed. Fisher must be dinged up again and Leggy got pushed around. Say all you want about Smithson but he was needed last night. I don't think Parise is the answer for this team right now maybe an offseason move. |

Great game by the team last night. Weber in the post game wrap up seemed, to me, as somewhat reserved, almost mentally checked out. Based on the success of the team as it is, I wonder if Suter and he are losing their premise for trade, to move to a team that can compete deep into the playoffs?
The Preds seem very capable to play winning playoff hockey. Top to bottom, when we play well, Preds are good. Anyone think we cannot compete at the highest levels of the league with our current roster? |

Not to be a troll or anything of that type, but how are things going with the resigning of Suter and Weber? I'm just curious as to what Preds fans think is going to happen with that, or what you guys might know? |

Yep. I agree. Their wait and see approach to see if the Preds are committed to making a deep run is quickly losing it's legs. I've always believed it's them really wanting to be in Nashville more than anything.

Weber won't discuss contract during the season. So, nothing going on there.
If we keep winning, I don't see us trading Suter unless we are offered something truly incredible in return. We'll trade his rights at the draft for next to nothing if he's not going to sign. |

Suter > Weber IMO. I come to that conclusion (along with most of the rest of you) due to the fact that when Suter is out, the Preds (and Weber) don't play great hockey. When he is in, the team around him shines. If a deadline deal happened, and one of them had to move, I think Weber is more replaceable (I do say that loosely).
Here's a thought... I wonder if Suter may have been more committed to this team had he gotten the C instead of Shea.... |

Suter's contract is on the table waiting for his signature. Suter is waiting to decide if he wants to try and create a winner here or run off to a pre-built contender. It's not a matter of money at all.
If Suter doesn't sign at this point then as far as I'm concerned, he lied. This team is very capable of going deep in the playoffs and eventually winning the Cup. That was his criteria for re-signing. So if he doesn't sign now, despite all the evidence that this team is capable of playing at a very high level and most likely only going to get better then it was never the compete level of the team. It was him wanting to leave, and not wanting to look like a jerk doing it.
Time for him to man up. Be honest about not wanting to be here or sign on the dotted line. If Suter signs then Weber will sign imo.

You guys do realize that by the Preds playing so good that you will potentially lose both Suter and Weber for nothing. - whipper334
Suter, possibly. Weber, I doubt it. We still have him for another year. |

Oh I never realized you had Weber for one more year. I hope you guys can keep them both and if you could add 1 more top 6 at the deadline and you guys could be a darkhorse. |

Unfortunately we've been saying that for years. I think Poile's master plan is to wait until next season and hope that Radulov returns. |

How long do you guys own his rights? Is it forever as long as he's in the K? |

He owes us at least one year on his entry level deal.
The good question after that is what is his Free Agency status. How long will we have him as an RFA? Those rules were slowly changing after the lockout. Not sure if he'll be forced to take an earlier version of them or if any of these games he's played since he ran off count for anything. His age and number of pro games played are abnormally high now for a guy who will be playing year 3 of his first deal when he gets back. |

What would the reaction be from the fan base to Radulov and more importantly how would the locker room react? |

I don't think the locker room would care too much, as long as he came in and put in the work. Most of the ones in there weren't even here when he left. As far as the fan base, I think they'd get over it pretty fast if he starts scoring a few goals. Also, I think there are a lot more "new" fans than there were when he left. |

Funny you mention that. I was at the Heat game last night and couldn't have been more bored at a live event if I tried. Was constantly checking on the Preds score
I do, at some point, have to wonder if Weber and Suter's situation is not money based. They keep saying they want a competitive team. I mean it's obviously not going to be competitive without them.
Sorry, the whole Pujols situation has just jaded me with athletes who say "I don't want to be anywhere else." |

For what it's worth, just heard on XM NHL Home Ice that Poile has pulled Suter off the trade market and the Preds are upping their efforts to sign him to a long term deal. |

I think the most likely trade for Suter is to Philly. Suter's addition to Philly and Ilya's return to top form pushes that team into the Eastern finals. What Philly would do to make space for Ryan in the next year is something else.
What I don't know is if this ownership group is willing to be within 15% of the cap for the next 5 years. If they are, how does Poile communicate that to these 2? If they are not willing to be a cap team for the rest of the decade, then we've got to trade Suter and take our first round exit. Then repay Suter like the Penguins did with Hossa a few years back. Kick Philly's butt in the Cup finals. |

Parise quotes are almost identical to Suter's quotes. The duo must have been planning since the Olympic tryouts. Do they team up in San Jose with Little Joe? Maybe Suter told Weber the plan after the playoffs and Weber is waiting to see what happens. I smell a Lebron! |

In response to yesterday's thoughtless tweet of the day, Dave Hodge tweeted "To clarify, yesterday's tweet was simply a satirical, tongue-in-cheek observation meant to be humourous and not intended to be offensive." Excellent. I mean how could anyone possibly take offense to the suggestion that they named their kids after the Klan? |
