Leafs need defensemen that can provide offence but big time pass on EK. That’s a step in the wrong direction. If you believe you have a surplus of talent at goaltending then to give up a prospect with high potential that is not who you want to target.
Tre is better off exploring the potential of getting someone like Owen Power. You consider moving Cowan or Danforth or Hidelby for someone like that. Not saying it’ll be one for one but that is what you trade your top prospects for

Yeah hard pass on Karlsson. We want defence not a 5th forward at the cost of killing our back end. Doesn't fit the style of Tre or Berube at all. Locker room issues and ego to boot there. Hard pass. Not to mention that ungodly salary on top plus age.

Better as said before, spend assets on a younger D, or someone fitting into the Berube style.

If anything maybe look at Seattle. See way more of a trade fit there. Kraken could certainly use Hildeby, and or a player like Jarnkrok or Robertson. Would they consider moving part of that set defence in Oleksiak, Dunn, or swing for the fences for Ryker Evans (doubt it there but he is an RFA.).

Nothing mentioned here seems to be what the current version of Dubas is looking for. The guy seems to be taking on bad contracts for high draft capital....and Pitts goalie pipeline seems kinda crowded at the moment. I just don't see how Toronto has anything to send back the other way let alone the cap space to take on EK or Rust.
