I spoke with some who did and all made comparisons to Patrick Kane two years prior - 3rd line motivation on rebuilder, spare pare parts on a contendor.

The Jets must have seen something others missed. Rumors indicate a 1 year contract inclusive of extreme bonuses, with a contract totalling almost $7 million if bonuses are achieved. There are no personal measures on bonuses other than games played. Playing (or a healthy scratch) for just 60 games, will earn Toews almost $5 million, even if he doesn't produce a single point.
