Just saw the post by Elliotte Friedman that Tocchet as Flyers coach is incoming. meh

Loved the guy as a player for the Flyers ... just not sure why he's such a desirable coach, though. I was hoping for Ferschweiler.

I would have been ok with someone from outside the org as well, but tocc was on my list. I am certainly not shocked as as soon as he didn't re sign in Van, I thought he'd come here. Massive improvement over what we had.

More of a players coach. NHL loves to rotate back and forth. He's well respected in the league and was 100% right to leave Vancouver after the trade of Miller against his wishes.

Elliot Friedman is having a tough 24 hours. A day ago he said Tocchet wasn't interested in the Flyers and would be going elsewhere. That escalated quickly.

I think they basically banned the negative Nancies which is about 90% of the board.

Love this move. Keeps the entertainment train rolling. When is the presser to announce the new Triumvirate? Dan “of the people” Hilferty have time enough to clean the egg off his face after the failure of Torts aka the spiritual leader of Flyers hockey?

Guess I went 2 for 2 on the coaching destinations (I also said Sully to NYC as soon as he was let go). Should have put some cash on it. Oh, and I don't like the hiring of Tocchet. I can't figure out why anyone actually thinks that he is a good coach. He had one good year last year and then that quickly came crumbling down. I just don't understand?

I don't think it's anything to write home about. Tech issues everywhere, and the content just isn't anything groundbreaking.

I am going to wait and see what they do this off season to see if it makes sense to bring in an older coach. Can they do something like Holmgren did in 2007? Loved Tocc as a player, will see what he brings to the table, hopefully not a pr stunt. I think Danny and Jonesy were very scared to bring in a college coach after Hextall/Hasktol.
