Canada had a pretty mediocre team as far as our typical squad. The defense was great. Goaltending was just okay and the scoring was subpar. Bedard would've helped for sure. Feel bad for the little goalie but his size just leaves too many openings for top end shooters. Hopefully he enjoys a nice career in Europe.
Why are the same teams always the ones mentioned as rumored destinations for players? There are more than four teams in the league. Toronto can’t acquire every guy on the market.
if Tampa cant afford to resign Stamkos then how can they afford Nylander? Stamkos wont cost more than his current deal and Nylander will be looking above $10M per season, you know when the only source is Ek when it doesn’t make sense

He didn't say anything about Tampa not being able to afford Stamkos. It's a matter of how big of a pay cut is he willing to take.
It's not a real trade that will ever happen, but it would make way more sense for the Lighting to want to give a bunch of money to Nylander than Stamkos. He's six years younger.

Canada will never be the dominant hockey nation it once was given that Canadians are being forced out and replaced. Better get used to ping pong, goat (frank)ing and cricket. I'm sure cricket is exciting though

Tampa is in cap hell, so yeah and with other teams ahead and behind them in the wildcard chase having multiple games at hand over Tampa playoff odds aren’t looking so great right now for them either, they would have to dump more contracts to be able to resign Nylander and well they dont have anything valuable in their prospect pool or valuable young players or picks to make a deal happen, Stamkos alone isn’t enough for a swap. youre kinda sounding like an HB meat rider

Don't you have a flag to hang in the back of your truck?

Like I said, it's not a real trade that would ever happen, but money wouldn't be an issue. They'll have over 13 million in space without Stamkos on the the books.
I can’t see the Leafs acquiring Stamkos at this years TDL. But I can envision a scenario where they do try to sign him as a UFA on July 1st, 2024 if he is available. Leafs have been looking for the perfect LW on their top two lines. Knies is still developing into the prototypical power-forward LW of the future so I could see the Leafs consider letting Bertuzzi go and trying to get Stamkos signed to the same cap hit as Burtuzzi’s
