Hey Jeremy what’s doing!
How did Kane look?
That SJ team has a bite now. They did the same vs us. We won in regulation but they made it too close for comfort |

What scares me more than Husso in net is the fact that LaLonde keeps putting him in. And... stupid idea of using 4 forwards on the PP... Husso has terrible lateral movement, can't control rebounds and flops around like a fish out of water. Not sure what it's going to take for this team to learn how to put in a full 60 minutes... Too many odd man rushes against them... and we got Husso in net. THAT is a recipe for failure every game. |

Kane looked pretty comfortable... he hit the post on one of his shots. Unfortunately, the Wings crapped the bed after getting a 4-0 lead and then lost in OT. And Husso was awful in net as usual. This is what happens when you don't play a full 60 min. Lyon should have been in goal who is much better. |

It looked like when we got up 4-0, the guys went into some sort of Prevent Defense....and that ain't gonna win games. D-pairings were bad, shoulda stayed with what was working. Total team collapse....total and COMPLETE team collapse.
I said it before the game; take SJ lightly and they'll light you up. The guys took SJ lightly and were embarrassed because of it. If I was in that room, I'm positive my Army-driven, colourful language would be free-flowing and I'd wrack up close to $3k in broken sticks. I've been upset over some of our losses....I'm downright PISSED about this one. No. Reason. To. Lose. This. Game.
NONE.
Husso need a mental adjustment, his head-space is massively off. But it's not just Husso; the ENTIRE team looked lost tonight. The result is a sold-out crowd who left pissed about being humiliated.
Kane looked good. His cross-bar shot....I felt bad for him. But he looked pretty good considering what he went through. Once he gets back into the flow of playing, he'll be very helpful. He had some miscues in positioning, as to be expected. He'll get there. The question becomes: Do the Wings have the ability to continue to press and make the SCPO, exploiting the advantages that Kane brings to the ice, or do they crap it away like tonigh?
Lyon. Lyon. Lyon. Get him back on the ice. Give Reimer some reps. When SJ potted #4, I figured Husso was done. He should've been pulled, the d-pairings should've gone back to what worked.
Unreal loss. Unacceptable. |

Husso needs to be shut down for awhile and the red wings need to ride Lyon with Reimer the second goalie. Husso continues to let in 3 + goals a game, his rebounds are ridiculous and he is incapable of making big saves when the game is on the line or will let in a weak goal after making a couple of good saves this consistently keeps happening. Now we know why the Blues let him walk for basically nothing. Now if Lalonde continues to play this guy every second game and we miss the playoffs by a couple of wins his coaching job should be over immediately with the Red Wings. By keep playing Husso right now when we have three goalies is total incompetence or truly bad coaching. Husso needs a time out |

The basic problem with Husso is his lack of athleticism. He can't move laterally quick enough to make a lot of stops... especially for odd-man rushes. He also doesn't control his rebounds. He's terrible with breakaways when it's just him and the shooter... puck goes in the net every time. He started playing badly near the end of last season and it's continued up until now. I'm not seeing any signs from him that things are... or will get better. Lyon should be the starter by default for the next few weeks. |

To be fair, this comes across as a typical backup game. At home against one of the worst in the league…
That said it’ll be telling the usage over the next few weeks. |

That's a good point. His rebounds are pretty horrible, like the ultimate temptation to any opposing player. Lyon will allow rebounds sometimes, but what I noticed was how close-in his are and how they're directed away from opponents making it more difficult to be scored on. Reimer's years of experience allows him to be selective in his rebounds as well. The goalie coach would do well to focus his efforts on controlling rebounds, especially with Husso. The 1-on-1 stuff is especially frustrating because we allow quite a few odd-man/break-aways. Control that, GAA becomes more palatable.
Think we need a better G coach. Wouldn't mind Ozzie taking the reins on that, Howie could show the guys how to lay like a beached whale.....okay, THAT was mean, I apologize, sincerely. We need to get someone out there who can actually HELP. Think about what we have in the pipeline: Cossa can be a beast, Augustine's lighting it up. Then they get to the AHL/ECHAL and look like a bust. That's coaching at that age. Get the good habirs formed now so we can minimize G as an area of concern......THEN develop a D system that gets after that area. Honestly, Defense is a team-wide effort. Look at guys like Veleno; rock solid fore-check, clogs passing lanes, etc... Need to work on that as well.
No reason for Busso to play again until he's fixed or fired. We're NOT going to be able to trade him this year, contract-to-results would make potential trade partners laugh their butts off. Gotta get after this....NOW. |

Team defense is why they lost and Husso is the fall guy! Wings need to shake up the D more than the goal. But yeah, play REIMER and Lyon more! I think the Wings play defensively better in front of Lyon and protect him more.....seems they keep the shots out on the perimeter more and limit the high danger shots. They left Husso all by himself on most of the goals against last night! Including a 2-0 in OT!!!!!!
I thought Kane did well. His passing is superb, his positioning very good, his shooting is good. He seems to be just a little off on timing, but that is just rust. A couple more games and he should be really into the groove! |

I dunno, H. I agree that the team hung Husso out to dry numerous times. But he should be expected to to stop some of those shots....especially the high-value shots. He's not the fall-guy, as I see it. The entire defensive structure the Wings have in place sucks, which leads to higher-stressed scoring chances, odd-man rushes, etc... I always looked at a G as another D-dude, just that he was the LAST D-dude the opponents had to face. In my eyes; total team collapse, but Husso's allowing around 13% of the shots he faces to find the twine. That's just disgustingly bad. He CAN be a good G, he needs to rine his process which means an intuitive coach needs to work with him to help fix his issues.

Husso is not a number 1goalie, and its debatable if he is a backup....I've never seen a goalie who looks more nervous, its all over his body language..... makes me nervous anytime the puck is near... and let's be honest, we've all worked jobs as team members where certain individuals just don't pull their weight causing the rest of us to be distracted as we pick up extra details to complete a task...creates low morale and doubt... this is no different, Husso cannot make the big save and the d, while not perfect, clearly scrambles more when he is minding the net.... Im over this, not sure what coach sees..... I feel that Kostin, Rasmussen, and Fischer played like they expect one of them will be sitting when Compher returns..... prior to the game I was picking Ras as he just seems to have taken a step back, aside from the 2 deflections I thought he got in on the forecheck well and was engaged.... Kostin played his best game, looked like he wants to assert himself to keep a lineup spot..... Fischer wasn't bad either.... curious to see which player comes out..... |

Like I said, the Wings need to play Reimer and Lyon much more as they play better defensively in front of them as well. Simply put, they gel better together. 😎 |

Abso-FRANKING-lutely agree.....The stress to perform ("performance anxiety"?!?!?!) on the D-dudes is lower with either of Reimer or Lyin, just from watching body language of the guys on-ice.... |

Did we see numerous defensive breakdowns last night? - absolutely. But the fact remains Husso is CONSISTENTLY allowing goals that a competent NHL goaltender just doesn't allow, including at least two in yesterday's game. Nothing demoralizes a team more than weak goaltending. Lalonde needs to make a change and now is the time. |

I agree with you in the aggregate. Husso is an issue. I reckon the point I'm trying to make is that whilst he shoulders much of the blame, the team's messing up as well.....Husso would venefit from a more competent G coach....and Lalinde needs to see that Lyon & Reimer are our current best hopes.... |

If there’s a bright side in all of this, the issue is past being able to be ignored. The change to the 4 forward power play, team defense that isn’t helping, goaltending issues etc. i don’t know where they would start, I would personally look at the rushes being given up. A GAA of 3.08 is not where you want to be even with a positive differential. The team can make adjustments, we’ll see if anything new gets implemented. Compher really does bring a lot to every zone and was missed but the goalie needs to make saves. “The race to 4” has to get a refresh. |
