Well, THAT was unexpected! The defense really played well, shutting down lanes and providing little space to move with the puck. Despite Walman being out, the poopting down of Bruins' offensive effort was impressive. Once Walman comes back, I'm hoping this can continue.

I didn't realize that Rayzor was 2d on the team in goals....hope he's growing into his game. Was a touch off last year. We really need him toclick in order to have a more potent O. The thing I'm liking about his game is his physicaality, much more pronounced than last year. The thing I'm concerned about with his game? His physicality. If he is injured, the team loses a potent weapon. Hisfore & back checking has grown by leaps & bounds from last year.

Husso was solid. Not many rebounds, which has been an issuewith him all year; rebounds leading to easy goals. Good to see him have better control of that. Murph had a point today; starting G is Husso's to lose. I'm not necessarily a fan of that. I'd go with the hottest hand but that's why I WATCH games and don"t COACH games!!!

The Give-Away/Take-Away battle was VERY lopsided in favour of DRW again today. Was the same in the last game, which helped DRW shut down BOS' rush and potency in the O-zone.

Good game VERY happy with how things look. Still some issues to work on; passing was routinely as crisp as it should be, caused loss of possession in the attacking zone on the P especially. Goes to controlling the puck, which is something to be worked on.

The team looked like they “grew up” in the past two. Just more steady in important areas and maturity from some of the players

Ya know, I think you hit on a big point; it's taken a while, but it's like these guys have grown up a bit. Still work to do, of course....but that's a good way of looking at it.

Veleno's a prime example. Rayzor as well, you could see his game change this year, he's grown physically, but in his maturoty as well...more seasoned in his game execution, more patient, more measured.

Hate watching Boston broadcast feed. The homer announcers are awful and need to learn that Mason Raymond a) doesn’t play for Detroit and b) hasn’t played in 6 years. LGRW

The only feed I used to like more than Detroit feed was when we played Buffalo. Loved the radio and TV. Boston has a fairly spicy approach to the opponent at times

I think that wraps it up nicely. Joe has such a different attitude. Has strength and speed, needed some maturity seasoning. Raymond shocks me. Sounds way older than he is. Seider too

Veleno looks really good on the top line. I'd have no problem letting him stay there a couple more games. He's earned it. He's a really good skater and tenacious on the puck. He doesn't look at all like the player we've seen the last couple of years. Most improved player on the team this year by a country mile.

Husso was actually pretty solid today. Hope he can start to do it consistently. I'd like to see Husso and Lyon alternate starts and see what happens. Lyon should have earned the start today IMO... but as long as the Wings got the win I'm fine with it.

Compher is really looking like a gem for this team now. He's a key cog in the offense. He's got 16 points in 19 games and he's starting to make the players around him better with his passing and setup plays.

I think you have tapped into something special. One of the great moments in sports is that “flip” when someone moves ahead. Joe is stepping up and wants to be better. Compher is truly a very special player. Strangely, I didn’t think of the Larkin line as the “top” line the whole game. It felt more like an identity than a number. I loved Debrincat’s solo performance. The line of Lucas, Joe and Dylan was a mix of grit, speed, work ethic, and ability. I really enjoyed it

I’m probably wrong, but the past 2 games feel like a different team. I can’t explain it as well as I wish I could. It’s like the trip and some bonding and some time together changed a piece of the dynamic. Since Yzerman’s arrival we’ve been looking for the personality of this team. It has felt like a glimpse of what they’re trying to become. The goals felt like the result of hard work and being dialed in. The defensive structure was taking a more solid form.

Like I said, it eludes me at the moment but this felt different. We’ll see what the next few contests bring.

There's no question the trip to Sweden was the low point of the season. They should have won both of those games. They completely imploded in the 3rd period of both games... and blew the leads both times going into the third period. I really hope this team is now resolved to not let that keep happening and have learned their lesson. You better keep your foot on the gas and keep working your butt off... keep pressuring to take away the other team's time & space. This team's best asset is their speed and fast transition game. They gotta keep using it and play smart.

I'd say that there's hope for better perfromances, for sure. For me, the frustration is borne out of the fact that this team is better than it often plays, which is being shown now/the past 2 games. There's always up & downs, but flat out taking your foot off the gas is inexcusable.

Let's see what tomorrow brings. Have a game every other day through New Year's Eve, I believe.

I agree and it may be a blessing that they couldn’t go home. They had time to talk about it
