Toronto and Edmonton need RD. Borgen is the only one mentioned that plays RD and he is a bottom pairing player.

Even though Zadorov shoots left, he plays both sides. I don’t mind looking at both sides for possibilities in Detroit. Something has to change and shake up the blue line

I could see Zadorov being an option from an analytical perspective. However, Zadorov lacks character which is something that Yzerman and Co. look for in people.

I can’t speak on other names because I’m unaware of their character traits but my bet would be on riding the waves with what’s available.
They need to learn the highs and lows to attain resilience so I don’t look at injuries as a bad thing, rather, a great place for the team to grow and gel.

A wise man lets his son fall and learn to get up on his own without the fathers support. Love what they’re building in Detroit.

I wish Yzerman would have signed Zadorov instead of Chiarot like i wanted. Wouldn't have signed Copp either or Holl (wanted Schenn or Gudas) and we wouldn't have Petry either. I wouldn't have signed Compher (wanted Duchene) or traded for Debrincat either and so far both have done pretty good for the most part.

Pretty tough to make a move on defense now since only Seider and Maatta don't have some kind of NTC and Holl/Petry were brought in this summer and Chiarot the off-season before. Seems like Yzerman has tied his hands with those contracts for those defensemen and their performances so far.

Jeremy with a zinfer of a question, eliciting responses that span the globe of opinion! Well done, my friend!!

If I HAVE to choose from the list provided; Zadarov or Hanafin. I think...THINK...Hanafin would be a longer deal. Iwatched him play in CAR, am a fan. I will say that what I've seen of Zadarov's been impressive, but I've not seen as much of him as Hanafin so they're a toss-up.

Eddy needs some more time in GR, his numbers are "off", but I'd not be surprised to see him up by the end of the season. That being said, I'd like to see him as a 3D paring to re-adjust to the NHL, ultimately anchoring 2D.... But could you imagine a d-line so good we had him paired with Mo Sides?!?!?! Wow. I cannot stand seeing Chiarot & Holl or Petry together. Whoever pairs with Chiarot (we're stuck with him, as much as it makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit...) needs to ve good enough to cover for his crappy play. Not sorry to say; Chiarot was a VERY bad signing. Holl's the only + guy, but I read an expose' on his metrics....needless to say, was less than complimentary. When he's on, he's not a "horrible" defensive D guy, and he was actually doing ok for a bit early on.....

Now, I do not like Gudas because of the trash hits he leveled on Larkin and Glendenning several years ago. Blind-sided head shots. Trash hits. See him as a Wing? I dunno. I guess it'd be like having Marchand.....hate to play them because they're nasty, but they're epically gifted if they're wearing the Winged Wheel!!!

So with all of the above (welcome being corrected, so fire away!!), are we REALLY looking for guys now to take us to the SCF? Are we REALLY that good? Nope. The guys we have MIGHT help us push for the final WC spot...MAYBE. But the reality is, this team seems to be set up as a middling team, decent draft position to help build on, maybe TDL moves to snag a better 1st rounder (maybe..), and build for the next 2-3 years. Let's be honest, as much as we love our Wings, we're not serious SCPO challengers right now. And we MIGHT not see a serious run in Larkin's prime time. That's just my gut. Larkin could end up like a Danny Gare, really good player on a less-than-good club for many years (ok. Maybe Reed Larson?).

Or, there could be an epiphany for the guys and everything clicks and we end up going deep into the 2d or 3d round!!!! Lord, what I would give for a guy like Vladdy patrolling our d-line right now. I seriously believe he was a Norris Trophy winner if not for the accident. He's an idol, for sure. Tear up every time I see him. What an incredible guy.....

He needs to season more. Showing now how much he needs to adjust to the NA game. MAYBE an end of season call up? Maybe not.

I thought we got the choice of sending the lowest of our first round picks to Ottawa for Debrincat. Not that it was guaranteed that they get the Wings pick

I do not see Yzerman trading. Unless there is a no brainer tit for tat player trade, but unless one of our D wants to play in the Peg, I doubt it’s happening.

A season is full of ups and downs. I think we will finish well and make the playoffs. You have so many players who haven’t played together, so they would begin to jell after a while. The Mo/Wallman pairing happened later in time. And I wasn’t so sure it would be as good as it has been.

If we are contending in a week or two, Yzerman will sign Kane. If we go on a losing bender, I doubt he will pick him up.

If the standard is that he needs to be lighting up the AHL before he can be brought up, I suspect we’ll never see him in a Wings sweater.

Kane won't fix the Wings problems. Wings are tied for 6th for goals scored with Avs, ahead of the Leafs and Devils. They are tied for 10th most goals allowed. Their issue is defense and to an extent goaltending with the biggest issue imo being defense.

I truly apologize that I’ve performed well below expectations. At this point, via Cap Friendly, Detroit’s first round pick is greyed out and listed as heading out. It may be something they track in real time, I published what was available.

Please know my intent is to provide good content from the best point of view I can find. I don’t just want to copy and paste full articles and pretend to have done any of the leg work. I would suggest reaching out to the site admin, let him know the issue, and he will touch base on how I can better and more accurately engage the fan base.

From the fans that are going to the games or catching them all, I’m not hearing a lot of positivity. We don’t need another Jurco calling someone up and making them sit. If he’s making adjustments the spotlight isn’t quite as hot in the AHL and it may be the better path. Would be glad and happy to be wrong. I really like Edvinsson. He was who I wanted us to draft but was assumed to be off the board before Detroit. Jim Nill said Dallas had him ranked as #1 defenseman in the draft. Just interesting to hear him say that

Yzerman keeps a lot close to the vest. The way he hit that net was nasty. If there was any internal bleeding a long flight home is a lot more dangerous. He may just be waiting to see if this is a quick heal or IR issue. If (and it’s a big IF) Yzerman is looking to get a D via trade teams knowing if someone is badly hurt may try to make the deal even more difficult.

In all fairness, Yzerman just functions in stealth mode. The trip was disappointing, and losing one of our top D would make it worse.
