Zak MacMillan: September 2023 Regukar Season Predictions The middle of the pack is the toughest to predict in a parity driven league. The top and bottom are clearer. Final predictions and reasonings will come with October where it will be locked in.

Me think you should go back to Walmart and get a refund for that crystal ball of yours.

Seriously, Ottawa 2nd last in their division? Was that based on actual knowledge of the team or just residual gut feeling from the past?

The Sens have one of the best Top 4D in the league now and a Top 6 that can go toe-to-toe with most teams. The only thing stopping this team is if the injury bug shows its ugly face again this year.

Sens fans have been saying this for years.

Bad team until they prove otherwise.

So you only think there will be two different playoff teams from one postseason to the next? The average in the cap era is six.

Zak made a reasonable list.

However, there are a ton of 'reasonable lists.' With the exceptions of Philly, and Montreal, everyone has a shot at the playoffs.

We can sort of assume Carolina, NY, NJ, Toronto, Tampa, and Boston will be near the top, but even then one or two of these teams will be in the cage match for the playoffs. This will be like the AFC in the NFL, where there are many teams with a legit shot, but a lot of them will be disappointed

It's going to be a great season, with multiple teams fighting for spots the last week of the season. It may well be that injuries will determine who gets in and who doesn't this year.

This is a pre-season bitlife assessment or discussion about the challenges of making predictions, particularly for teams in the middle of the pack, in a league marked by parity.
