I am sure for a very large overpayment that he would. I am also sure if I was Conroy I would ask Hanafin to say to the press he is open to an extension in Calgary.

I think the room got toxic and divided with Sutter. Let’s hope this team can find reasons to win. With no clear cut Star they will need to win by committee.

Calgary can not retain ALL their pending UFA's....one or 2 big contracts or potential contracts wil have to go. It is a better problem than all wanting to leave.

Kylington and Backlunds agent says he has no plans to discuss extensions for those two any time soon.

That’s their rights, but I’d be listening to offers for anyone that hasn’t come out and said they’ll sign. Basically Lindholm is holding the team at ransom, get the contract done or move on.

Yeah but taking Mangiapani in the 6th, Gadreau in the 4th, Wolf in the 7th, Fleury in the 9th more than make up for that.

IMO if they do not want to do a full-on rebuild, then they should be investing heavily in scouting and player development. The draft you mentioned for Dallas took them from a team in decline to a possible contender.

The Flames have found some late-round gems, but the article that Trevor wrote earlier this summer about the Scouting department or lack of it, is extremely disappointing.

With the amount of money at stake, investing say another $5 million/year into scouting and development is a no brainer.

The Flames failure to commit to a much needed full on rebuild has led to this cat and mouse dialogue between players' agents and Flames management.

The Chicago Black Hawks are committed to a full on rebuild. They traded 34 year old Patrick Kane to the Rangers for a 2023 conditional second round pick and a 2023 fourth round pick.

To let a player of that calibre go rather cheaply shows a long term commitment to change.

I can tell you I have zero interest in signing 34 year old Mikael Backland or Oliver Kylington to long term hefty contracts.

Time will tell and I know Treliving left some terrible signings but IMO all the more reason for a full on rebuild.

What a wonderful region. Wish I could find a way to export a poop more wine, cigarettes, and some of their beef back to Calgary. I pack of smokes here costs about $2/CAD. I just did a wine tour... Bought two higher end bottles from their wineries for about $20/per. I might just buy another backpack, pay the airport fees and taxes just because it is actually worth it.
