Karine Hains: In Hainsight: How Things Change... Two years ago, the Canadiens lost the Stanley Cup final to the Tampa Bay Lightning, only 6 players remain from that unforeseen cup run and to say that the team’s philosophy has changed would be an understatement.

It seems like when the character crowd have played that card way too much.

It couldn't just be they wanted a potential 1st pairing guy. it also had to be that the other guy just happens to be a huge POS too.

“rotten apple” were even used in the podcast

Aka, he has the unfortunate problem of being born in the wrong country.

I suspect the label on him is partially, but not completely, true... language and the way he interacted with people/players who might not have been part of an NHL, but was heard second hand. And other factors like (lack of international) playing time, likely contributed to that.

I think he has a shot at eventually being a very good NHLer, but I also think Reinbacher has a greater chance to play and be an impact in the NHL.

Time will tell, but it will be a long, and likely difficult, road ahead for the Flyers.

Yeah, I think it's a bit of both. Maybe he is a POS, maybe it's a lie...

One thing that drove me nuts prior to the draft though, Laraque and a bunch of anchors at his radio station really were pushing the narrative that if Michkov was still on the board and the Habs passed on him, it was going to be a catastrophy like the guy is the second coming of Mario Lemieux.

A lot of simple minded people drank that like Kool-Aid.

I think both will be very good. I've been on the Michkov train since he was 15 and I saw him at the Youth Olympic Games. I don't get the vitriol around Reinbacher. The guy literally set records as a youth defender in arguably the 6th best men's professional league in the world.

I don't know, seems as though if you're calling an 18 year old a rotten apple without proof, maybe you're the rotten apple.

Another gem of a blog, K. I also agree with you in regards to "our" defense prospects... We've been crying for a new Andrei Markov since he left... Subban was the closest we had. Having a defense that has an offensive mindset both compliments the weapons we have up front in players like Caufield, Suzuki, Newhook, Dach, and company, but also allows creativity in getting the puck out of the zone. So many of the big bruiser stay at home defensemen just dump the puck and hope for the best. It's why Markov made Komisarek look so good... Because he was able to move the puck out the zone to the offense, padding his (and Komisarek's)stat line. The future is promising... We may see some flying Habs sooner than later.

We can handle trolls...I mean, Peanut lives in here... But hate speech is something we don't have any patience for. Keep that to yourself, and you'll be fine.
