I really like Provorov and think he'll make a very good 3/4 defenseman.
That said, he's never been the same since he hurt his shoulder against Pittsburgh in 2018, and his production shows it. I don't know what it was, but he just never moved past it. But I think taking top-line minutes away from him should allow him to thrive. |

Provorov is not a PP qb. They tried in Philly even before this terrible season with quality players. He doesn’t read plays well on the PP. he doesn’t get shots through, he turns pucks over at the blue line.
He is a stay home defensemen but wants to be offensive but that’s not his strong suit and hopefully Babcock will get him to realize that. |

great move by CBJ. adding a young top 4 D that can significantly improve the back end. a draft pick wont see the NHL ice for 2-3 years, this helps improve the team now. not to mention at a discount with the kings holding salary |

let's just say I'm more confortable giving a first for a guy like Provorov than Umberger back in the day ( holy cow the more I look back on it those Scott Howson days were horrendous).

I'm not saying he's a BAD player, he's just not what people were projecting when he was taken. |

I think it makes Columbus deeper on the backend, but it all comes back to whether he re-signs in 2 years or leaves as a UFA. If he plays well and re-signs then all teams win, if he jets off sadly I think Columbus loses even if he plays well for 2 years. |

I think Provorov can be a very good and productive player -- particularly in a 2d pairing role. But he's an ES/PK player, and no more. He's absolutely brutal on the PP, and should get no minutes there whatsoever.

jmatchett383 may well be right, but with all due respect to the Flyers fans here, maybe the problem with his numbers and results from the last two seasons is the team that he played on.
I personally think that is a reasonable belief to have, so the trade for him is a very good one.

Personally, I think this team is good enough to make the playoffs this season, if they can have Elvis play up to his salary and the young players keep improving. However, they probably won't make it because of the rumored coach that is coming in July is the wrong person for the job. |

No doubt playing on this poop team with a poop GM didn't do him any favors. But just overall, his play in general dropped off after that series. He's still a solid top-3/4 guy, he's just not the defensive cornerstone type player he was touted as. |

Totally legitimate view, and I do not watch the Flyers often so I'm not saying you are wrong. But the cbj braintrust thinks he is worthy of a 1st and 2nd pick, meaning they have to believe his play will rapidly improve somewhere else, like Columbus.
If they hire the right coach instead of the rumored one coming to the cbj in July I think he will improve.

The cbj could of done worst, Sandin fetched a first, Ekholm , Savard , seems like it's the currency for that tier of defensman , then you have Jones and Chychruns . |
