If I'm being charitable, I suppose you could say that Treliving was up against it in a small market. He had two American players who were not going to re-sign with the team so he was behind the 8-ball.

The rest of his trade history has been fairly mediocre but never terrible. Not sure if that's a great endorsement.

Maybe as Leafs GM he would have more flex with players? Wonder if Shanny would give him any more authority than Dubas?
