Pretty odd decision for Cooley to go back to Minnesota, you’d think after a year like that he’d go pro |

Man. We could have waited and hired dubas which would have solved all of our problems. Haha. Sarcasm alert. Man did that situation play out in a bizarre manner. |

If you were Cooley , what would you do?
Play in a college area that holds 5,000 or stay in school and wait for the team to move to a better location.
Personally I would stay in school and wait for the dumpster fire of a team to figure out where they play in 24-25 season. Then make a call about going pro. |

Not sure Dubas could build a team, he inherited and team with stars. |

He just had a 60 point collegiate season at a premier program, you turn pro. He most likely burns the year off his ELC after his college season but if he gets injured that changes things. |

Lol, very bizarre. Figured he’d be stepping away after his initial presser but it seems like the idiot shot himself in the foot. A fitting ending for his tenure |

Listening to Shanhan, if Dubas really wanted this job he handled this like an absolute moron. I can’t believe shanhan didn’t let him go earlier. |

Flyers should have drafted Lipkin over McLaughlin. Lipkin will be an NHL player while Owen will not even come close imo. Owen doesn't have the work ethic.
Macdonald was clearly a size pick. Not a very good skater. Really like the Kaplan pick. I am an Avon fan as well so will root for him at every step.
Nothing to get your hopes really high on in terms of what's in the system.

unless he wants to see what happens over the next year before he decides Arizona aint for him. My guess is with all the uncertainty he will take a wait and see approach.
On a side note been watching him play for 10 years. Did not see him being as good as he has turned out. Saw the potential but damn he is good.

It's good to see Cutter looking and playijg with this confidence. Those were some pretty hands and professional patience shown on that goal.

I think MacDonald has a shot to be a pro. More likely AHL than NHL but a chance. Good defender, blocks a lot of shots, physical. As you noted, good size but not a great skater. Not great with the puck but better than I thought he would be. Makes the 10-foot pass fine.

I guess that’s a route right, wait and demand a trade if it’s not suitable. What would he have to do to become a free agent though, play all 4 years of college? |

The skating will be a huge issue imo. He has some other pro attributes. Worth the gamble in that round I suppose.
Never know what goes on behind the scene though he should be working with a top end skating coach if I was him.
Can you shed some insight at al on things like this, is it up to the player to seek that coaching or does the team set it up? Now him being in college may be different than a player in juniors in how they handle.

my understanding is yes all 4 years. Though Arizona would likely trade him before that.

In bizarre news, it's possible that Brian Davis's bid to buy the Washington Commanders was fueled by misappropriated CIA black ops funds from the 1970's.
I don't know if it's true but it is the craziest sports story i've heard today.

Good to see CG doing so well at the IIHF Worlds. Yesterday on the Athletic hockey podcast, he was the first player discussed by Corey Pronman saying people have been very impressed with his play. Hope he goes back to college and absolutely kills it this season. |

The other aspect that was wild was how shanahan gave a detailed play by play as to how everything unfolded . |

I agree. I expect him to be named gm of the pens in short order. That’s what the buzz was with the Toronto sports media.
Good luck with that. Hey Kyle, we’d like you to give Sid and the gang one more shot at a cup. Oh, we have no draft capital, and you’re not allowed to trade malkin or letang even though they are starting to show their age. Go. |
